BC women's hockey: always the bridesmaid...

Re: BC women's hockey: always the bridesmaid...

There are some exceptions to the 4 in 5 rule, but that usually only applies to those that take a year of to be part of the Olympics. (Jenner is an example who did that, and ended up delaying the start of her college career by a year AND taking a year off after year three, both for centralization). In theory Kessel could have an Olympic year off and a redshirt year off to give her the 4 in 6 option. I'm not sure, if it actually can be applied in her case, as I'm not familiar enough with the details in her case.
It's pretty clear that she'd have eligibility if she wanted it. Pucci started her career a year earlier. Both missed a season due to the Olympics and a season due to a concussion.

Can we compare the Eagles women under King-Crowley to the men's teams under Ceglarski? Very good teams that never quite had the extra X factor to get over the top?

Re: BC women's hockey: always the bridesmaid...

BC had a good season. Frozen 4, single elimination, anything can happen. As much as I love the Gophers (& WI & UMD), it would be great for women's collegiate hockey if there were more distributed successes at the championship. Great seeing Clarkson win it last year. Hopefully, Hockey East will get there soon.

Is traditional redshirting common in womens Div1 hockey or is it mostly due to the Olympics or injury? It seems common place in Football and basketball. In men's hockey, don't they just play juniors instead of redshirting?

Off the top of my head, I can only remember goalies in women's hockey taking a redshirt for something other than medical or national team reasons.
