BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

I'm surprised no one has mentioned ice quality as a deciding factor. The puck was bouncing around Thursday night like a superball.

Two teams scored over 7 goals each. I don't think the ice was that bad.

Apparently they expect it to feel even more natural by Saturday, hope that's the case. The ice in Verizon Center in D.C. is always terrible in the spring and it was fine last year, let's hope that happens for this year's championship.

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

I'm totally psyched for this game. I think anybody who claims to know that their team will beat the other is just blowing smoke. These 2 teams are clearly the 2 best in the country, after what UW did to Denver all year & what BC did to Miami last night. Both are deep, both are playing their best hockey of the year, both have solid goaltending, but neither has a keeper who is likely to steal one all by himself. BC is faster, UW is stronger. More of the BC players have experience on this stage, but UW has more veteran leadership. BC plays a more wide-open style. UW wants to win by tipping in longer shots & cleaning up rebounds. I think it's possible that either team could lose this game due to 1 or 2 bad penalties (whether bad penalties or bad calls ). I think either team could be tripped up by a goaltender who isn't right at the top of his game. I think either team could be beaten by a couple of flat footed shifts that let their opponent set up shop in the offensive zone & score.

Both teams have played enough in front of big crowds, in big situations and on bad temporary ice sheets. Both teams have great coaching.

This truly sets up to be one for the ages. I'm hopeful that our Badgers, behind their first Hobey winner can bring home #7. There's a great team standing in their way, though. It's all down to a day and a half of preparation & 60 minutes of hockey. Best of luck to BC, and I hope that it's a good, fair game that's not won or lost on a whistle.

Bring it home Bucky.

I dun just ain't smart enuf to fingure out what the score gonna be.

This. Going to go see the Brewers to get me warmed up for all the thinner I'm going to consume tomorrow. The high-life variety, I believe. :D

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Nor can you. You guys have scored a pile of goals recently, but you've given up a pile also. Neither Maine nor Yale are as good as we are.

Is there an echo in here? I seem to remember an almost verbatim argument from several Miami fans.

Because BC fans (or Boston sports fans in general) NEVER over exaggerate how good their teams are.

Wisconsin Hockey: QUIT HOGGING ALL THE HOT AIR!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned ice quality as a deciding factor. The puck was bouncing around Thursday night like a superball. At one point in the first period an RIT player nearly got a faceful! The Champ game is going to be tight (until I suspect an empty netter late) - a bouncy puck just could be a major game changer. The ice overall looked *****ty & I'm 12 rows off the end - I'm curious what the players have to say. They sure spent a lot of time last night fixing the ice.

That said, Miami may have been a top defensive team all season but their D sure was spectating from the ice Thursday night. Sure made BC look a lot better. And RIT was simply outclassed. I felt bad even doing the "Sieve" cheer in the 2nd period. And I was wondering if we could have gotten a running clock in the 3rd.

I predict a 1 goal game until late. 4-2 Badgers mainly based on their puck movement on the power play. I haven't seen their PP look that good in a long time. If ever.

Its hilarious watching some of you Badger fans downplay the BC dominance over the #1 team in the country, yet touting your win over RIT saying stuff like "I haven't see the PP look that good in a long time. If ever."

Whatever makes you guys feel better.
