BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Agreed. BC said they wanted to make Miami play at an "uncomfortable pace" the whole game. They certainly did that. Wisconsin looked like an NHL team playing RIT but BC made the consistent number 1 team all year look like they were playing with sneakers on their feet instead of skates.

I love it . . . please keep the pro Wisconsin predictions coming.

This will make the beating that BC is going to put on Bucky even more enjoyable!

This one will not be competitive. Right now the Hockey East level of play, for a variety of reasons, is far superior to any other conference. You guys barely beat our 8th place team, for Pete's sake.

A cowardly dive from one of your top players won't do anything for you in this game, either.

But hey, good season, guys. You beat the 8th place Hockey East team by one goal, practically got a bye into the Frozen Four thanks to matching up with consistent NCAA tourney failures St. Cloud, and you took liberties all night long with a team of washed up old Canadians masquerading as Cinderella.

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

I would agree... I think the BC win is more impressive than the WI win vs RIT. I was expecting more from Miami at Frozen Four after they came so close to having title last year.

I disagree with this. Miami seems to always be over rated, and although BC put up a ton of goals, I don't think they outplayed Miami by as much as the score showed.

I mean come on, how can you be proud of beating a hockey team from Florida?

This I will agree with. But the Badgers are also playing their best hockey of the year.

5-2 Wisconsin (ENG).

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

You have yet to support your argument that Hockey East is "superior" to all other leagues.

I was talking about the style of play between the conferences. You only need 2 eyeballs and a knowledge of hockey to witness that.

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Wisconsin needs to play with some humility to win this game. They cannot think they can win a run and gun contest with BC. All that is going to do is result in another football score game with BC on top. Wisconsin needs a few big hits at the beginning of the game and throughout to slow down the speedy BC forwards. Also, puck possession is BC's offensive zone will be key. They need to cycle the puck around and use their size along the boards. I believe Miami's only goal came from a long puck possession.

That's true, but Wisconsin probably could have poured it on in that 3rd period and stopped for a while until they were just being handed scoring chances on a silver platter. Miami seemed like they're were holding off BC in the 3rd period of that game, but once that 4th goal got through, the whole dam broke open.

BC is faster. Sorry Wisconsin fans, but it really is true. As far as depth, I don't think either team has the advantage there. BC did a tremendous job defensively last night, but Wisconsin's defense core is a bit more talented. As for goalies, too close to call. It should really be a close game. My brain and gut both say BC is going to come out on top, and it won't be low scoring, but it won't be a shootout.

4-3 BC.

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Given a choice, I'd bet they'd rather have Wisconsin's NCAA Tourney record....;)
Good point . This should be a really intresting game two very different styles of play. BC is a fun team to watch I like the way they transition and cycle the puck. Wisconsin seems to play big when they get the dance . I dont see them trying to play a run and gun game with BC I think they will slow it down and grind on them. Bucky 4 BC 3

Honestly, would you like to take a mulligan on this post?

BC is en fuego right now. Eagles 5-3 with and ENG.

Nope. BC was better than Miami yesterday, I'm not arguing that. They just weren't 6 goals better. They got that nice flurry (three goals in 1:35), which broke the game open. Good job, that isn't easy to do. However, if you played Miami again, do you honestly think you'd beat them by 6 again?

Mook, you are just digging yourself a deeper hole here. What is this great difference in style of play in which your delusions lead you to think HE is superior? First of all you dare suggest a dive was committed in the 06 title game, a game which Wisconsin clearly dominated. Your goalie kept you in it.......as was the case in 90 at the Joe. Your conference has six titles in 27 years of play. If Wisconsin wins this game, the WCHA will have six titles in the last 9 yrs. Do you really want to debate conference superiority when armed with a squirt gun? We should be able to agree that Wisconsin has been hot through the tourney except for one period against Vermont (BTW We schooled your regular season champ twice this yr). Ask Barry Melrose if he has eyeballs. He sounded pretty convinced that Wisconsin looked unbeatable yesterday. With that said, anything can happen.

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Western Bias to counter eastern bias:

UW is faster than you think.

UW's D are arguably the best in the country. Their puck poise is the best I've seen as a unit in years.

UW's transition game is better than you think as well. This is not a trapping clutch and grab type team.

UW will be the home team, they will get to match up lines with the last change. That is a slight tactical edge.

I do like the fact BC coughed up 7 goals to Yale 2 games a go.

This is a battle of 2 very talented teams who are red hot right now. I say neither team as any decided advantage.

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

I will point out with amusement he clipped this at four instead of five years.
Must be because Wisconsin beat BC 5 years ago.

Related question: how many players on each team played in that Frozen Four?

First of all you dare suggest a dive was committed in the 06 title game, a game which Wisconsin clearly dominated.
Dominating has nothing to do with diving. Now, I will admit, I don't know what context MW brought up said dive, but any Wisco fan defending Earl in that game is crazy. He dove. It made the highlight reel. He goes down, looks around for the call, sees that his teammates have the puck, and hops right up to rejoin the play as the Badgers score. Blatant dive. I wouldn't say it changed the game, but it sure made Earl look bad.
