they are our version of UNH men's team in terms of trophies. Lots of pretty records but not much hardware to speak of

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Loved what Linell did for the "4th" line. Incredibly tenacious now, smith just needs to stay out of the box, although at least one of them was total crap. They remind me a lot of the 4th line they had in 2010 that just shut down other teams first lines.

A couple guys other than the big names ive been really impressed with this weekend.

Adam Gilmour: think hes really starting to cone into his own and developing confidence. This team will need some secondary scoring in Feb/March and I really like what he brings.

Scott Savage: I can't believe he went undrafted. Hes got great hockey sense, solid defensively, and has a great first pass. Can't see him ever coming out of the lineup again.

BC is now averaging 5 goals per game. That is absurd.

Edit - I lied, it's 4.56. But still...

yeah, but it is more absurd that it's 3/4 of a goal more per game than the second highest 4.57-3.82 (Minny) = 0.75 , or about 20% more

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Even more absurd that it's a one line team, and they play soft! :D

Imagine if BC had 2 lines? 10 goals a game??? ;) ;)

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

It's really nice when your one line on a one line team is really really good, isn't it boys?

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

If there were a couple of things I really wanted to see this weekend, they were getting some of the other lines going, and Demko turning in a good performance.

Weekend stats -

Smith-Sit-Linell 1 goal, 2 assists
Gaudreau-Arnold-Hayes 6 goal, 12 assists
Fitzgerald-Brown-Cangelosi 2 goals, 3 assist
Calnan-Gilmour-Silk 3 goals, 3 assists

Every line was on the scoresheet. Obviously. the big line was, well, immense. Though really, 6 goals and 8 assists from the other three lines is usually a pretty good weekend for an entire team. Most importantly, they all got in to the act. And even the lowest-scoring line played a big role defensively and physically.

I didn't see the game last night but by all accounts Demko played well and made some good stops.

We know Billett can provide solid (if unspectacular) goaltending and we could do a lot worse than riding him for the rest of the season. But Demko has the potential to emerge into a spectacular goalie, based on his pedigree. So I'd like to see it remain a two-horse race for a while longer.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

i think savage was listed in the midterm rankings...probably gets drafted in june

i also think gilmour has been pretty good all year, really like his size and his game. to me it's calnan who is coming on strong.

just gotta find a way to get cangelosi and fitzgerald out of their slumps.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Was hoping last night was the night Demko won he job. Not sure he did that but last night was impressive, he's such a big kid in net

BC is creating some nice separation between them and everyone else in conf, about a week away from mathematically eliminating teams which was absurd w up to 40% of the season remaining

i think it's important to note how young demko is. crazy for a freshman goalie. can't recall anyone coming in younger than him. no need right now to dump all the pressure on him right now. when's the last time billett lost? at maine?

In the past, BC never had that consistent goaltending to win and the defense to win. It was always frustrating before York came here. They had some good players and teams but could never win the big games

Interesting, I thought Demko was kind of meh yesterday. He started out pretty goddamn awful but did get much better as the game went on.

And watching Billet Friday, he gave up one really bad goal too. The goal where he didn't lock down the corner and the puck just deflected off him and behind him from a bad angle shot. I didn't see it at first sitting at the other end of the rink but seeing it on replay at home tells you he didn't exactly have a great game either even though BC won 6-4. Demko's 2 on 0 stop was fantastic )

I think with more games, Demko will play better. But it is just my opinion when you play backup you get less playing time and less experience. I think potentially Demko's curve goes up while Billet has flatten out.

i thought demko was fine yesterday although maine wasn't much of a threat 5 on 5

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Anyone here still think Johnny, Arnold and Hayes should be broken up?
Since the Super Line was put together on 12/6, the team is 8-0-1, with 46 goals for, 19 against. Yup, that's 5.11 goals/game. Pretty incredible numbers.

Also, nationally...
#1 JG with 47 pts.
#2 KH with 42 pts.
#4 BA with 33 pts.

Scoring Leaders Link

Anyway, stats don't matter. Winning matters. Can't argue with the team's success since 12/6.

Any chance the goals (and recap) from the Maine game get posted? Thanks.

fivehole, if lines 2-4 go completely ice cold at some point then yes i do. unless you think this team has the
defense and goaltending where any scoring from lines 2-4 is just a bonus. right now, keep as is. you win. for now ;)

Fair enough, but I still disagree. ;) I think other options are still available in lines 2-4.
For instance, Brown centering Calnan and Gilmour could also be very productive.
I like the lines as they stand right now. Everyone is contributing. Good stuff.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

I think with time getting close to post season, you have the killer line and the other lines needed time to gel and produce better
