Justin Wells 6’4” defenseman from Bowling Green is transferring to BC. Just what we needed on defense. A grad transfer who will be 23 in July.

Go Eagles!

That will give them 7 dmen (includes Hreschuk). Still need an 8th but that could be anyone at this point. A walk on type. The BCBG Eagle Falcons are ready to take flight.

Are you counting Jack Agnew? Does Gentry Shamburger go back to defense? I would like to get one more 6’4” defenseman, but I forgot about Agnew. I believe they are going to bring in two more forwards. Probably, Matt Brown and Grant Cruikshank.

With Agrew in the portal, I would not be surprised if they took another big defenseman.

I think they want both Brown and Cruikshank. They were short on forwards especially when Hutsko got injured. The 4th line was not very good most of the year.

They can carry extra scholarships next year due to COVID.

Go Eagles!

On the CHN podcast that was released yesterday, Greg Carvel of all people revealed "I just talked to Norm Bazin and his best player is going to BC". Kinda bizarre for another coach to say that when nothing has been finalized. But anyway, who is UMLs best player? Brown or Blackmun?

I believe you can have extra scholarship for only your returning seniors
Transfers count against the limit
Many schools not willing to do this so some seniors moving on
The Cornell goalie cited cost as a factor in his move to Notre Dame

Even though the Ivy schools made an exception for 5th year players this year I never expected them to actually follow through on it.

Norm was be referring to Matt Brown. I don’t know who is better, Brown or Blackmun, but all the rumors have been about Brown.

If BC gets Chuikshank from CC, they will have the players to make a serious run at the NC. What I like about Kruse from BG is that he is also a very good defender. He has a terrific + / - rating.

Mark Divver is reporting that he is transferring to BU instead. Mark is solid reporter, so I trust it's true. Definitely bizarre.

Colorado College captain and forward Grant Cruikshank will transfer to Minnesota. He has two years of eligibility left.

If BC is still in on portal players they might as well shoot for the other big fish from BG...Cameron Wright. Lake Superior has a couple good forwards in the portal as well.

People still confuse BC & BU! Maybe Matt said he is going to BCU (lol)! Very good player, but why go from UML to BU?

I’m not surprised that Cruikshank stayed West. He is from that area. Minny lost a lot of players so Cruikshank will be a big part of the rebuilding effort.

BC will find two other very good forwards if they have not found them already.

Go Eagles!

We'll see. I still think I am expecting only one more transfer. It's difficult to say when you're not sure who is coming in as freshmen. Hreschuk and Gasseau for sure. After that, I think Mike Posma is coming in. They lost 4 forwards this year so Kruse, Gasseau, Posma and then either another transfer or one more freshman. Could be Paul Davey.

Cameron Wright would be an excellent addition. BC is bringing in 3 forwards, 2 of whom will be 20 year old freshman and one who will turn 20 in December in addition to Argentina who is 18. Gasseau will be 18, but he is still listed as a 22 by Heisenberg. They usually carry 15 forwards, 8 defenseman and 3 goalies.

Why go from UML to BU? How many players has BU put in the NHL compared to UML? For an undrafted player he will get much more visibility playing on BU than UML. Add to that he will be playing with more talented players that should increase his production as well. I know you are biased but if you are a free agent college hockey player right now BU is a much more desirable spot than BC is given the mass exodus of players. Losing out on Cruikshank and Brown are proof.

And you took the bait (lol)! Who would rather live and go to school in Lowell than Boston. As far as going to BU versus BC, that’s usually an academic or financial issue. BU is in need of a talent infusion especially on offense. They look to be a .500 team next year to start. I don’t see any dominant team in college hockey next year. A lot will depend on coaching and developing your team over the season. At least next year the coaches will have a full season to work with.

Go Eagles!
