Let's consider this a blessing in disguise. This team has no mojo right now and sleepwalks through most wins. Gets leads, blows them. They don't have a championship mindset at all. They get soft and stop skating. And the way they take care of the puck, you'd think possession was a bad thing the way they throw the puck around.

Hit the reset button. Move on from the worst goaltending performance in postseason history for the BC program.

Agree with this statement. They win 1st place regular season trophies with their talent. Playoffs are a completely different beast and they haven’t been able to slay it for quite some time. No championships since 2012 and no runner-ups either. I get that if you’re not first you’re last, but in the 2000’s they were champs or runners up pretty much every year. Same head coach, same talent, same first class program, but where’s the mojo? Where’s the physical and mental toughness? Where’s the championship mindset?

What’s changed?

Wow....geriatric Jerry just got owned by Norm (Norman) Bazin...like has no talent but just put in an honest effort....and WON.

Jim Logue was a huge loss behind the bench after 2012. Goes without saying.

JY made a program decision to switch to all offensive defenseman and it has cost us big time. We look like the old UNH teams, totally soft behind the dots. Gone are the days of Orpik, Alberts, Dumolin, Cross, Pietrecki, etc. They cleaned up all the shit behind our net. No running around our d zone for endless stretches. Gone are the championships.

The sad part is this is not going to get better. There is more pain to come next week. It will get worse next season if we lose Helleson, Boldy & Newhook. UMass could well win the NC at the Garden. Greg Carvel is my choice to replace JY.

Here’s the deal Pat Kraft should give to JY. Bring in some stay at home defenseman via the portal and try to win one last NC next year at the Garden. Of course he needs to convince the big 3 to return.

Go Eagles!

On offense we have one line that is a threat. Break up Nester and Ambrosio. They have similar styles and both need bangers like Giles and Kuntar to feed pucks to them. Get some balance on each line. Stop the nonsense of benching Kuntar over a legit big hit. That was not a penalty. We desperately need him in our top 9.

Giles, McLaughlin, Ambrosio
Kuntar, McBain, Nestarenko

Go Eagles!

Tough crowd. They scored 6* goals. Spencer Knight just had a very, very bad game. Go back and look at the goals. They weren't off turnovers, or being outmuscled in front. Basically all perimeter shots that he normally saves. Just one of those nights for him.

This team has so much talent, and yet they play like crap so often. I know I’ll get scolded for this, but it’s time for York to retire. He can’t get his players fired up at all. The coaching profession has passed him by. I love York with all my heart, but this is ridiculous. We have all this talent and yet we stand around half the time, we are soft as hell, we get hemmed in our own D-zone, we never have possession in games, and we constantly blow leads. We haven’t won a Hockey East title since 2012 and a Beanpot title since 2016. Far too often this team looks like they rarely practice together. This is not a championship team. The recruiting is fine. The coaching is a problem. North Dakota, Minnesota, Mankato, etc would wax us right now. I know I’m emotional right now, but I’ve felt that we needed a coaching change for a few seasons now. York has to let go of the reins. I hope this team proves me wrong in the tournament though

Ouch!

Knight has been giving up goals blocker side up high. The winning goal the UML guy walked right in front and scored. They were buzzing in the BC end for long stretches and hit 3 posts. UML just happens to suck on defense and BC took advantage of most of their chances. We saw the same result against UMass. This team is going nowhere, this program is going nowhere until they bring in at least two, big stay at home defenseman.

As far as offense goes, they were playing the 7 seed. We can’t expect one line to carry us in the NCAA’s. The 2nd and 3rd lines did nothing until Giles overturned OT goal. They have to change those lines up. They are wasting Giles on the 3rd line and Kuntar on the 4th.

We are seeing the same year end results all due to poor defense. We look like the old UNH teams!

Go Eagles!

No excuses but give UML credit for plugging away down 4-1

Knight obviously had a bad game

I just don't understand when you have a 4-1 lead why you don't adjust and play more defense and tight checking

BC for some reason does not like to block shots and plays a passive defense in their zone

We all talked about this possibility when they don't play for 60 minutes

That disallowed OT goal really hurt too

Honestly I couldn't see the offside but BC players need to pay attention to details in close games. Offsides, icings etc. can come back to haunt you.

Re: dmen

With Buckley and Orpik on staff, I am sure they have a soft spot for the stay at home dman like a Karow. Helleson is the total package on defense. St. Ivany is a good player. Powell had a very good year. It's not like they lost because Tim Lovell is small. If Knight is simply mediocre they win. Instead he was awful and they paid the price for it.

Regardless of exactly how it happened, this team has demonstrated a disturbing inability to put teams away when they get up on them. Maybe it's their overall youth, I don't know, but the lack of a killer instinct is a problem. A team that blows a 4-1 lead in the third period gets exactly what they deserved.

+1,000. Time for the HEA, ECAC, and Atlantic programs to grow spines and stand up to the western programs that never saw a gimmick they didn't like.
Except 3x3 overtime will remain for another season before it can be changed. And at least one Hockey East coach, Coach O'Connell, has made statements in support of it since his hiring.

Sean

I miss Logan Hustko and so does BC, experienced, competitive and smart and very good in all three zones. The boo birds are out for JY, nonsense, they were the number 1-2 team all year. They did not have a good game and Knight was even worse, but he has stole many one goal games for us this year and last. New season, new trophy next week, put it behind you and win the next 4.

Shame on York for not winning the conference tournament last year and the Beanpot this year!

And for not having Carreau drag his skate. He was a much better coach 20 years ago, when his team coughed up a 2 goal lead in the final four minutes to North Dakota (including a too many men penalty). Then he became brilliant when Kolanos made a rush in OT.

Re: overtime. Of course it makes sense to have OT be 5X5 when there is no time limit. The question has always been during the reg season, what do you do for ties. 3x3 is better than the shootout. Either keep ties, or 3x3, which is super entertaining, more so than having a guy do warmup dipsy doodle trick shots.

Two words: Puck management.

How many times did BC ice the puck last night? BC clearly is a quick-strike kind of team that is able to get by on the skilled goals they pop in here and there but the lack of possession and quick frankly, total disregard for it, is why they look the way they do and why they are once again a team that is continuing the trend of postseason failure. Possession generates chances, generally brings you more PPs than the other team, and keeps the ice tilted in one direction. And yes while we can say Knight was beyond terrible and basically the only reason they lost the game, it's not a problem if you don't spend the game in your zone and let the other team launch shots at your net all night.

If they practice, they don't play like it.
