Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Are you sure it was TPM for some reason I thought it was The Crap of the Clones...not that it matters.

Pretty sure it was TPM. And likely was both movies. I don't really recall Attack of the Clones too well (I haven't seen those films in a decade or more).

I do recall my friend who I watched TPM with was *way* more geeked about all the Easter eggs in the galactic Senate scene. Back to back viewings the say it came out, and I still couldn't find them all after I was told what they were after the first showing.

I think he even said there are US Astronauts in one of the galactic Senate booths too.

And Wattoo has a space pod from 2001 A Space Odyssey for sale in The Phantom Menace.

ET being in TPM was pretty well known (I thought).

I thought so, too, but then again when I mention "message board" half the people I talk to are wide-eyed in puzzlement.

Yeah, I know his appearance in those movies was widely known. That's not my point. My point is that I had forgotten ET could do all the telekinetic stuff, having just watched the movie for the first time since it was released on VHS back in the late 80s or early 90s. It was also partly me being irritated with the crap that Lucas pulled with the prequels. He just did so many things to ruin those movies in addition to their stories.

Wait, you just watched ET again: was it at least the original version or the George Lucas-fied special edition that Steven Spielberg regrets doing where the cops guns are digitally swapped out with walkie talkies?

Guns were there, not walkie-talkies. It came up on Netflix as being recommended for me, so I decided to watch it.

George Lucas and Spielberg to put E.T. into the Star Wars universe by adding his species into the prequels, seen during one of the Galactic Senate scenes. E.T. moved stuff moved stuff around with his mind and could communicate with Elliot through his thoughts - his emotions. Does this mean E.T. was a lost Jedi or Sith? He seemed to recognize Yoda when they were supposed to be out Trick-or-Treating.

There are many Force sensitives who are neither. Maz Kanata is an example of this. There is a character in the upcoming Rogue One who is similar.

Yeah, I know. I was just blowing off about the stupidity of Lucas that seemed to takeover his film making starting around 1995.

I have never bothered with Ep 2 or 3, because I HATED Ep 1 so much.

Assuming I can see them for free, should I ever bother or just celebrate not ever having been tainted by them?

3 isn't horrible. 2 is a steaming pile

How the Jedis were taken care of and how Anakin came to be Vader were pretty friggin' cool, though. That was some dark and twisted stuff.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

I disagree...Scooby was correct years ago that Vader should have hunted down and murdered the Jedi not some ridiculous deus ex machina implanted by the Emperor. But hey Vader killed kids so there is that...

While I liked Episode 3 I cannot even watch it now.

In the cartoon Star Wars Rebels, they have Vader and his henchmen, the Inquisitorial Squad, hunting down any Jedi who escaped during the episode 3. The first season doesn't feature Vader, but season 2 does. James Earl Jones is voicing him, too.

I dunno, that is also very cliched. I mean, all of a sudden, your cohorts turn against you, some while in battle....dam. And when Yoda senses the disturbance, that was a pretty powerful image to see, because Yoda kicks all sorts of arse.

No it wasnt...it was stupid and lame. Oh no I feel bad because a bunch of Jedi were killed by clone troopers like Red Shirts on an episode of Star Trek...yawn. The Jedi should have gone down better than that. Vader's job was to hunt down and murder the Jedi...not be a child killer and whine like a biotch about his wife.

St. Clown,

No offense, but I dont much care about the cartoons. (nor do most non uber fans) It is nice they covered that in there, but if it isnt on the big screen it is really irrelevant to most people and I say that as someone who read a dozen books and watched The Clone Wars.

Obvious big bad guy hunts down innocent good people. Yeah, sounds pretty cliched to me. ;)

Vader rarely did the dirty work, just like the Empire. They doled it out. So for me, it fit.

You are the Mark Ellis of the boards. If it doesn't happen in the movies it doesn't happen. While that point of view is valid, I would urge people to explore more Canon. The Clone Wars and Rebels stories aren't typical cartoon fare for little kids, but books are where it's at. Especially audiobooks. They do a full production on the audio books with music and sound effects. You can join Audible.com for a free month and download a book for free. If you want good Vader, do Lords of the Sith. Quality story-telling and a good look at the relationship between Vader and the Emperor.

Kepler, you can skip episode II and just watch III. Or you can go on YouTube and watch the fan edits which take out almost all of I, most of II and trims the fat off III so it is condensed to one movie.

I'm in the "if it didn't happen in the movies, it didn't happen" camp. BUT, I know that cartoons are not always for kids. See that one Batman series where's he's all crippy and has to train his successor (don't remember the exact title). Definitely not for kids, and I enjoyed it. If it helps, one of the villains was Matt Hagen.

Add into that, the 3rd season of Rebels is bringing Thrawn to TV. They've brought on Timothy Zahn to consult the character, and he's writing another Thrawn book to go with his addition into Disney's canon. His presence should make for a really good story arc this season.

For those who don't know, Zahn wrote the original trilogy of books that made Star Wars novels into a real, semi-popular thing. Thrawn was a phenomenal villain, a smart villain who could not use the Force.

I literally said I watched The Clone Wars and read over a dozen books...I know plenty of the canon and it is a lot of fun but most of that stuff should have been in the movies not on cartoon network.

And Brent all Star Wars is is one long cliche...why would one more cliche matter?

Clown,

Let me guess...you get mad about Han not shooting first dont you :p Thrawn is a cool character but those books dont count anymore so not sure what they can really do with him in the future. Too bad, those books were awesome. Bringing in Mara Jade is much easier...

Look I am not denigrating the shows, they are fun. But to most people seeing the movie (not just Mark Ellis  ) is the only thing that matters. The deeper canon stuff is for the uber fans. Its like when fans of JRR Tolkien's books defended having 3 Hobbit films cause it added in stuff from other stories to fill in. That is great for the people who read those books and stories but the average movie goer doesnt give two craps.

On another note I finally saw The Killing Joke. It is a very good adaptation of one of the creepiest graphic novels I ever read. I enjoyed it. Best part is now Hamill and Conroy are teasing doing even more (Hamill originally wanted this to be his last...well his latest last he says that a lot he is just too geeky to stay away ;) ) but now they are teasing doing Hush and Death in the Family.
