And the remake was better than the original,

Oooo, I dunno. Both were very good in their own ways (cultural differences comes to mind). But I get your drift.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

I know who they are, and I like the RLM guys sometimes like the old Mr. Plimpton bit (it was not me that posted them originally it was I think Paragon of Virtue)
Random lurking comment: I have never heard of Red Letter Media or whatever a "Mr. Plimpton bit" is. If I posted it, I have no recollection of doing so.

I have problems with Seven Samurai: it puts me to sleep *.

For me, Yojimbo > Fistful, but when it comes to Magnificent Seven I turn in my Film School Snob card. The Hollywood version is as close to perfect as an action drama can be.

(In matters of taste, YMMV is always assumed.)

* Now I have to post this to get it out of my head.

Hmm...my bad. I wonder who posted that then because I know I learned about it on here so it wasnt me. (I reposted it a couple years later) It was like 3 versions of the board ago so my memory is lacking :)

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Went to see Suicide Squad and wasn't as bad as the initial reviews, would put it at perhaps a 6 out of 10. That said Harley Quinn was awesome, a bit over the top and character certainly under developed but look forward to a sequel to take things further.

Two outstanding ladies on my list to watch out for in the future are #1 Brianne Dave from Synchronicity, and #2 Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad.

Don't know which leading male actors have that something special these days, will have to think about that one some more.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

HQ is so amazing in the trailers -- particular the ComicCon one -- that I think seeing the movie would actually detract from her for me.

My god, though, if that becomes a popular look for women 18-25, 90% of the marriages in this country are going to be in trouble.

I'll give Suicide Squad a solid 3 out of 10. A few performances I enjoyed, but that plot was a mess and I hated the use of music throughout.

The Rogue One trailer drops on NBC at the top of the hour.

Finally pulled the trigger on a purchase (to get free shipping, I make a list and wait):

Exam
Circle
Adventures Of Ford Fairlane
Snowpiercer
13 Sins

All are definitely high on my list, although one does not belong with the others, and it's pretty obvious that it's a guilty pleasure. ;)

I watched it...I am of two minds about the trailer. Parts of it were good but overall it was just a rather generic Star Wars Trailer.

I haven't seen it yet. It's the only reason I'm watching right now.

NBC really blew it. They had a chance to win fans long-term and they instead went after a few extra ratings points...which they will attribute to Michael Phelps. If you were following Twitter you saw how ticked off people were.

When the trailer finally dropped at 10:05 I thought it was great. The people at LucasFilm sure know how to cut a trailer. However, I still remember the trailer for Episode I and wish I could have seen the movie advertised in that.

Speaking of misleading trailers, a guy from Scotland is suing because there were scenes in the Suicide Squad trailer that weren't in the movie. I wish I has thought of that after I saw the Negotiator.

Yeah that was why I called it a generic star wars trailer. It is the same one they made for like every movie with just different actors ;)

The difference now is that there's no single person whose word is greater than the franchise itself, so we shouldn't ever see another Prequel Lucas treatment to a Star Wars movie ever again. Disney knows how to make the masses happy because it leads to them making a buck or two.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

That doesnt mean this movie wont suck...Disney makes plenty of clunkers ;)

In this case though, unless the rumors about the reshoots are true (which I never buy) and how Disney wanted a lot of the violence taken out the movie should be good. :)

Kathleen Kennedy could wield Lucas-like power but she's smart enough not to. She's Yoda.

And, unlike George, she knows that she could be fired by Disney if she starts failing at delivering good product.
