Re: B1G/Hockey East Challenge - Let the Domination Commence!

Probably a pretty good idea, but it might be a bit of hyperbole to refer to the participants as "eleven of the country's most storied college hockey programs." :p

Not a problem...we allow those teams that don't have a story to make up their own.

Re: B1G/Hockey East Challenge - Let the Domination Commence!

Go ask the ACC how that "domination" is working out in the basketball challenge. You BC fans know. :p

Re: B1G/Hockey East Challenge - Let the Domination Commence!

10 of the country's most storied college hockey programs and UMass?:o

Well, considering PSU has one season under it's belt I think even UMass tops them... And as much as I love my Catamounts I don't know that I would call them a "Storied" program. But hey, lets really just pretend and promote the crap out of it...

Re: B1G/Hockey East Challenge - Let the Domination Commence!

I assume this wasn't planned ahead of time and the two conferences decided to start it after the schedules were created, perhaps because of the changes to to pwr. Is this how the B1G teams are getting road games?

Regardless, I'm really excited about this and hope that all the Hockey East teams are involved in the future :)
It will be interesting to see how this works out over the next few years. I would imagine many of the match ups will be the same next season with only a change in location.

I've heard that Wisconsin has a 4-year rotation set up with BC and BU.
2013-2014 - UW plays at each school once
2014-2015 - BU comes to UW for 2 games
2015-2016 - UW plays at each school once (presumably opposite nights from 2013-2014 trip)
2016-2017 - BC comes to UW for 2 games

It's a good idea, but B1G would have to be willing to share some of the travel costs here. I would wager the budgets of the B1G are in a different stratosphere from the bottom third of HEA..

Make them all two game series, and guarantee that every HEA team gets a home series every other year. That's about as close to equal as it can get.

Re: B1G/Hockey East Challenge - Let the Domination Commence!

Hmm...13 games and Michigan or Michigan State are playing 8 of them. Better hope we're good to make the B1G look good.

This"challenge" reeks of games already scheduled. "Hey look, we have a bunch of our teams playing Hockey East the first couple of weeks, let's call it a challenge".

Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to my trip to UNH.

I think it's great. Hope they do some four team showdowns in Boston, St. Paul, Detroit and possibly New York or Chicago. For example, in Boston have BC, BU, Michigan and Michigan St. In St. Paul have Minnesota, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and UNH.

Re: B1G/Hockey East Challenge - Let the Domination Commence!

UMass beats MSU 3-1 (ENG), giving Hockey East an early 2 point lead :D

Edit- BC 9, Wisconsin 2. Hockey East is up 4-0. Michigan and UNH tied at 1 with 4:23 left. Come on UNH!

The domination HAS commenced. That is exactly what that is.

Re: B1G/Hockey East Challenge - Let the Domination Commence!

Wis 3, @ BU 7
MSU 2, @ UMass 5
Mich 3, @ UNH 2 (OT)

Unless I missed something, it's now 9-4 Hockey East.

Re: B1G/Hockey East Challenge - Let the Domination Commence!

Hockey East looked good this weekend.
