Atlantic Hockey, Mercyhurst Lakers

Re: Atlantic Hockey, Mercyhurst Lakers

Anyone know the scheduling concept. The teams that you play 4 times a season. Do they switch up every year, or every two years?

I don't think they've said yet? I would think it could switch every other year - the teams you played 2 times at home you play away this year, and vice versa. The teams you played 4 times (2 home/2away) stay the same...just a guess though. This is similar to what they did before Niagara and Robert Morris joined.

I think they would switch up the teams you play 4 and 2. Also, the teams you played on the road for 2 you should at least host, except that the geniuses at the league office are sending RIT back to Air Force again this year.

Re: Atlantic Hockey, Mercyhurst Lakers

So the semi-finals for the conference start on Friday March 20th, with the four teams playing back to back games(5pm, 8:30pm) out of Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

8:30 ET RIT vs. Canisius AHA Tournament Blue Cross Arena, Rochester, N.Y. TWCS
5:00 ET Mercyhurst vs. (20) Robert Morris AHA Tournament Blue Cross Arena, Rochester, N.Y.

Does anyone know when the finals will likely take place and where?

Will see if I can get some time off and head down for some good hockey, seeing four teams in an evening would be fun!

Warning, concession stand here I come - laughing out loud!

Re: Atlantic Hockey, Mercyhurst Lakers

For the semi-finals tonight will there be any difficulty obtaining a couple of tickets at the door?

I looked up the arena and it is listed at 13,000 capacity, I assume that there should be plenty of tickets available.

The other option is I can order on-line through ticketmaster with a service fee of $16.00 ($8.00 per).

What do other people do, order online or buy at the arena??

Re: Atlantic Hockey, Mercyhurst Lakers

Hockey capacity is 10,556. Attendance is usually between 2,000 and 4,000 when RIT is playing.

Wow, another win pulled out of the hat!

A one game contest for the conference winner, Wildung has been nothing short of spectacular.

Re: Atlantic Hockey, Mercyhurst Lakers

There will be no 'rabbit pulling out of hats' tonight my friend!

You are right on that one, all good things have to come to an end at some point.

Was very interesting to follow the brief run. I have definite idea's where the biggest need to address team wise, with 11 senior players graduating the plan has to be to live through a few challenging years and then make a solid run.

The defense however has to be the biggest worry in restructuring, it hurt just watching them perform and will be interesting to see if it is addressed either by existing players being given the chance to play or new players signed. I think the pieces need to be in place and working in two years time, otherwise all the pieces won't come together to make that run.

Re: Atlantic Hockey, Mercyhurst Lakers

I understand eleven (11) seniors will be moving on this year, any insight on to any of these players getting an opportunity to play somewhere else after the season? How about Sargeant, I understand he was hurt for the majority of the season but knowing how good he was there must be something in the works. Misiak looked fantastic as did a couple of other players, would think some might get a chance or opportunity in hockey.

Sargeant, Jim G 1990

Gettinger, Grant LD 1990
Shiplo, Tyler RD 1992
Misiak, Ryan D/LW 1991

Nagtzaam, Nardo LW 1990
Frischmon, Zac C 1990
Just, Kyle C 1991
DeWald, Ed RW 1990
Zay, Matthew LW 1991
Bodo, Chris RW 1991
Bahngte, Danny RW 1991

This is a lot of bodies to have replaced in a single year, is it normal for NCAA or do most teams try and balance things out a bit more and replace 6 to 8 players a season?

Are people generally happy with the results this season in light of having a majority senior team, or thought they would fair better seeing the previous season’s results?

Expectations for next season in the conference?
