Arizona State Moving To D1

Re: Arizona State Moving To D1

Yes, but he's a '94 still looking for a scholarship. I'm not surprised that ASU is going this route, but its not like they got a '96 with his point total...he's 74th in points in the league. There are a half dozen '94s in the top twenty including John Shiavo, Dane Gibson, and Charlie Zuccarini who are uncommitted.

I'm not saying Masters can't be a good player, its a good start, but nothing to get too excited over.

Wow, what a recruiting sleuth. By all means just go to the BCHL website and pick your players. Beautiful!

What an ***...I'm just saying because the kid was once committed to UNH doesn't mean much since they let him go. Someone who is 74th in scoring in the BCHL isn't going to make them a winner. He's 8th on his team in scoring, at least he plays for a team that's in the top 3rd or so of the league.

How's that logic working out with Ustaski at UW or Roy with NU??? Individual recruit Points means nothing as an indicator of team success.

good to see ronnieb getting dominated by so many people in this thread...guy is a world class moron

Re: Arizona State Moving To D1

Knowing ASU's party and reputation with the ladies, it wouldnt surprise me if Dan Bilzerian tried to get a commitment from ASU hockey.
He'd be the 4th line goon

Re: Arizona State Moving To D1

I am fearful that you can't build a program as quickly as ASU hopes.... and I think that a proven D1 AC or HC would have been the way to start.... but time will tell.

It certainly is interesting to not have a single coach with D1 coaching experience. They added Alex Hicks as an assistant, he did play in the NHL for a handful of years.

According to this, they now have 4 assistants. Wonder who's going to get let go?

I wonder if: A. They don't know what the rules are or B. it doesn't apply to them as a club team until 2 years from now.

Re: Arizona State Moving To D1

My understanding is even though Powers has been named head coach, the assistants won't necessarily carry over to the D-1 team. I'd expect one coach from the club team to be hired and one coach from outside the program to be the two assistants.

This program can only go up as the transition to D1 will only be one step at a time With two more years as a club team they have plenty time to grow. Look at PSU.
