Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

all the dots lead to Glen Beck. It must be so

No, actually, that's a heart. I see why this is so hard for you.

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

uh. actually a whole lot of people - neighbors, friends, classmates, teachers, police - said the guy was wacked. I didn't hear any of this "he was a normal guy" stuff.

and yes, we do need to spend money on this stuff. funny how the Obamacare crowd is suddenly anti health care. at the very least we need to talk about it - not blame - so people can become educated and pick up on signs of this happening to a family member or a friend.

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

Lying, no. Possibly ignorant, certainly. There is evidence that he was interested in politics. And not being interested in the news or watched tv doesn't preclude that since everything is available online.

But everytime someone does this kind of thing there are always quotes from family or friends that indicate how normal or how they never did or would do something, they didn't see it coming. People live double lives all the time.

This is at least the second time you've made the unsubstantiated suggestion that "he was interested in politics," as part of your justification for (apparantly) putting Henry Waxman in charge of the First Amendment. Yeah, he was "interested in politics" in the same way Richard Speck was interested in nursing or Jack the Ripper in anatomy. It's a fool's mission to use ordinary language to describe what was going on in his head. But despite all evidence to the contrary, the true believers slog on with their numbskull theories.

Loughner would occasionally mention Giffords, according to Tierney: "It wasn't a day-in, day-out thing, but maybe once in a while, if Giffords did something that was ridiculous or passed some stupid law or did something stupid, he related that to people. But the thing I remember most is just that question. I don't remember him stalking her or anything." Tierney notes that Loughner did not display any specific political or ideological bent: "It wasn't like he was in a certain party or went to rallies...It's not like he'd go on political rants." But Loughner did, according to Tierney, believe that government is "****ing us over." He never heard Loughner vent about the perils of "currency," as Loughner did on one YouTube video he created.

Since quoting people close to him is fun. Of course none of this had to do with politics.

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

he also thought the government was using grammar to control his thoughts. that doesn't make him an English teacher.

you have to ask yourselves - why are you so invested with this guy being connected to Palin, Beck, etc.? these are awful tragedies. not some political football to throw back and forth. liberals and conservatives both should be ashamed.

Do the voices in your head believe your harebrained theories, too? The nice lady next door who works at the precinct on election day is "interested in politics." That phrase has no meaning when applied to Loughner, except of course as a club to claim causation for the killings, so the left can score political points at the expense of the right. As regards Ms. Giffords, Loughner wasn't "interested in politics," he was monomaniacal about her since she blew off answering one of his delusional questions. He wasn't "interested in politics" in any accepted sense of those words. Your whole perspecitive here is tawdry, shameful and completely in keeping with the left's "blame the right" mania, first displayed in Dallas, then Oklahoma City and now. Nothing will change your mind, I know this, but reminding posters here of how thoughly into the ends justifying the means you are, and how easily you slander and smear people who disagree with you, will have to be enough.

Right, but I think being obsessed with a political figure- stemming from the 2007 incident- is not the same as being obsessed, or even interested, in politics.

Say my trash collector wrongs me next week, and I spend the next 5 years plotting his demise. Was I a part of a vast anti-garbageman conspiracy, or did I just have a personal grudge?

Only if someone can blame your actions on the right, despite a complete lack of plausibility.

I agree. Although he did make a good point about mental health being part of the socialist agenda. We don't need to be giving that stuff away.

here

No, there isn't.

Providing mental health is just as socialist as providing physical health. We can't spend taxpayer money on loony bins. That's why Pineland is now a corporate campus and many of the former inhabitants are the homeless who live on the streets of Portland.

Where do you get this?

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

Predictable.

And Wewantmore you ignored that he met her after going to one of her POLITICAL events and he kept track of her politics. No that's totally not someone who had anything to do with politics, no interest, no monitoring, no anything, NONE WHAT SO EVER.

**** it, I'm praying to raptor jesus to kill everybody.

Ahhh, I see. The batteries in your sarcasm detector aren't working.

I thought the word "socialist" in both posts gave it away, but I was wrong.

Mental note: We have a literalist on the board.

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

seriously. I'm gone from this thread. it makes me sick. people trying to score political hay on someone's death. almost as sick as the shooter ...

She was in the grassy knoll across the street.

...because she can see Russia from there.

After the conservative lovefest for Palin all week...I figure a liberal should actually reference her before the week was out. ;)

Re: Arizona Congressman Gabrielle Giffords Apparantly Survives Assassination Attempt

Meanwhile, MSNBC cans Olbermann. It's their decision, of course, but I always hate to see somebody fired--a residue, no doubt of my many job losses. However, in AP speak he's described as "mercurial," which I guess is their way of cleaning up "pompous, overbearing, bullying a*shole." It's all in the wrist.
