AOC rocks. The people who attempt to belittle her are so hopelessly punching above their intellectual and moral weight. They should just slink back to their basements and listen to Fox and suck their thumbs and fill their Depends and wait for death. Their time is over.

“Moderate is not a stance. It’s just an attitude towards life of, like, ‘meh’. We’ve become so cynical, that we view ‘meh,’ or ‘eh’—we view cynicism as an intellectually superior attitude, and we view ambition as youthful naivete. And the ‘meh’ is like worshipped now for what? Like, for what?”

Many here may not care or disagree...but she's enroute to putting a hurt on the Dem big tent as she is almost trying to push people out the door. Even so if she creates a culture in the party that reinstates Trump (who won by 80k votes), she will truly test just what is forgivable.

Me living in her district has no bearing on whether I can have a solid opinion about her.

Listen guys. I'm going to get tons of trolling, because some won't see it the way I do and afterall this is a message board.

So I'm totally cool with people who have different opinions due to the political views and I won't discuss any of that or said trolling. OTOH I would welcome those who have serious fact based comments of why what is apparent and what I posted is not true.

Fact. Moderate Democrats have stood around and watched the Republicans destroy the country. I'm done with placating to their point if view.

And 5MN is completely ignoring that moving left will also pick up other voters. So how many lost vs how many gained would be a better question.

Also ignoring the fact that the Democrats moving left, if they are, is also reflecting much of the country moving in that direction as well.

The Republican membership reflects what this country was 50 years ago. The Democrat membership reflects what this country is becoming, and will be.

The Tea Party was just astroturfed Christian fundies, bankrolled by the traditional Republican powers that be.

Some interesting commentary.

Hovey is a conservative and maybe someone can disprove his point, but it seems unlikely. The Republican party represents an analog to both the Dem party and potential damage here.

We live in Mpls and the NE respectively I believe. I have loved living in both Mpls and Boston but they (and the NE) are two of most politically skewed places in the country. A recent study I saw from the Atlantic showed that...both Mpls and Boston ranked among the most partisan cities in the country. And while I usually agree with the POVs, this board, the majority of which is from the same areas, skews heavily towards liberals. Trump would not get support of 45% of this site - about the minimum of where he should be coming in in 2020.

I really believe that many in the Democratic party, as moderate as we can be, wouldn't agree that FDR's New Deal is racist for example.
