The term boyfriend loophole refers to a gap in American federal and some state gun laws that allows access to guns by adjudicated dating abusers. While federal law and many states' laws restrict firearm access by respondents to final protective orders (individuals who are subject to domestic violence protective orders issued after a hearing at which the individual had the opportunity to appear)[SUP][1][/SUP] and domestic violence misdemeanants (individuals who have been convicted of the misdemeanor crime of domestic violence),[SUP][2][/SUP] the federal prohibition on firearm possession by an intimate partner only applies if parties are current or former spouses, current or former cohabitants, or share a child in common.

The "law" that the Senate is working on includes provisions to close this loophole. Apparently the GOP has a big problem with closing this loophole and it might derail the legislation.

That's your argument about why liberal states shouldn't enact gun laws?

No, that's simply me pointing out that your logic sucks.

There are plenty of reasons to pass gun control laws. But "libs should follow the abortion model of red states" is not only asinine, but would be entirely counter productive and ignores reality.

I've always thought that gun laws should be regional. Cities and suburbs should have outright, universal, Draconian bans with severe jail sentences. Rural can have any moronic thing they want. Let people have rocket launchers in Flyover, who cares, there's nothing to destroy.

Your argument is getting more and more circular every day.

If there are plenty of reasons for liberal states to pass gun control laws, then pass gun control laws.

A few days ago you told me it was a bad idea because courts will just strike them down.

Sure, then they bring the flamethrower to the city with them and burn down the place. Just like they do now.

Then we kill them at the border, easy peasy.

You can have your d-ck substitute but you have to keep it in your farmer playpen.

I would think even at the boyfriend level this would be what puts the Red Flag in Red Flag. So, I now question whether or not the GOP really supports Red Flag laws at all.

They don't. The GOP has convinced its voters that red flag laws will be abused by spiteful women to prevent ex-lovers from getting guns with no due process.

If your boyfriend is jerking himself off with his gun it's kinda self-inflicted if you picked him.

Well that and their ideology is the only way any man can "abuse" a woman is if he damages some other man's property.

That appears to be exactly correct. I think if the Dems want "anything" out of the current negotiations they will have to cave on the boyfriend loophole.

I really wanted to write her off as another loudmouth krasenstein type after I saw one of the videos. I just can't do it. She's good.
