Given the tone around the 2nd in your area, what in the world would they have realistically done?

And for people who supposedly have reverence for the cops, you sure seem to think lowly of them.

I think at a minimum talk to the guy.

When have I ever said I have reverence for the cops?

How so? With a warrant? What would that even do? It's not as if they would attempt to take his guns away, and you can't predict that it would change the outcome- it would just as likely sped things up as it would have prevented it.

The only thing that would have changed is if they legally took his guns away. And that would not happen.

Polls that show overwhelming majorities of Americans support many more measures regarding gun safety are getting to be a joke. 85% supposedly support all sorts of measures that would do a lot to curb gun violence, from suicides, to murders, to mass killings. Yet other than a few state laws here and there very little gets done. And what does get done is often meaningless, because places like Indiana, with gun laws so so lax they are insane, are right next to Chicago, where owing a firearm is fairly heavily regulated but meaningless because of Indiana.

If these polls want to reflect what reality is instead of asking whether you support things like tough background checks, red flag laws, magazine limits, or even repeal of the 2nd amendment they should ask if you plan to once again vote for politicians who do not share your views on gun safety. If 85% of the people support sane gun laws, then even NRA and other gun-fetish groups throwing $$$ all over the place won't win elections if people voted for legislators and other politicians that allegedly support what they want.

Other than a repeal of the 2nd amendment, I WON'T vote for anyone who doesn't support the fairly stringent restrictions on firearms that I want to see enacted. If I waited for a pol who came out for repealing the second amendment I might never vote again.

Start a full on repeal movement to move the window back to sanity and allow people who want common sense and highly popular control measures to have something on their Left flank to protect them. The Right did this extremely effectively with abortion, and they have less than half the popular support that background checks have.

Also, Drew would be on here crying to high heaven if they did try to take his guns away.

Just another example of the rogue deep state trampling all over good patriotic 'Mericans' 2A rights.

I wonder how many tens of thousands of other Americans are dead because of these "patriots."

Frankly it is almost as if the insane mouth breathers on the right have declared war on everyone else out here who believes in sanity when it comes to guns and gun laws in this country. Why, it's almost as if they are our enemies.

Frankly I believe these gun nuts are either terrorists or they are giving safe harbor to terrorists. We ought to treat them like we'd treat any other terrorists.

Well god damn it. Services for my coworker's murdered boyfriend are this weekend... which is not good. At work we have a substantial upgrade happening overnight Saturday/Sunday. Like, this is a big, big deal and not something I can just miss. And I am 100% sure everyone on my team will want to attend services.

I will be very sad to do so but I will absolutely hold down the fort to let others go, however I can't manage it all by myself, so I'll need 1-2 others to stay.

I know this issue is utterly meaningless compared to what my coworker is dealing with and I don't mean to make it about me. But I really wanted to be there for her, and I don't think I can.

The carnage of our uniquely American inability to deal with an issue that is unlike this anywhere in the world reaches into all corners. I am so sorry for your friend's loss Swan, and for you too. That guy may have murdered 18 people but this will have a very real effect on 1000s of people.

I should have said this in the original reply, but I'm sure your coworker will understand the situation and appreciates your support even if you are there only in spirit.
