Should be mentioned that if you're coming from another state, between the ages of 21-25, and want to buy a beer at Agganis, they'll laugh at you. MA license only (or passport I've heard).

Don't forget about the quality concessions at the J. Thom.

Already knew about that one thanks to the Fleet Center. Although it's not a problem anymore.

This should be letters A through ZZ and plastered all over every BU athletics and hockey east web page.

I can confirm they will accept a passport, though (not that it matters for me anymore)

This is due to the over the top MA liquor laws. Essentially the business with the liquor license gets in more trouble for serving an individual under 21 with an out of state ID than an in state ID or federal id (passport, greencard, military id) due to the fact that out of state IDs are not considered valid by MA. Which is especially crazy considering that they are good enough for you to rent a car in the state or board a plane across the country. Oh well though this is MA and it is only one of many laws/policies that do not make sense.

CC.) Lowell has the best crack houses in Hockey East

DD.) Osrojo has nothing to do with Hockey East but avoid his threads anyways

EE.) The most important tourney to win is the BeanPot, just ask Jack Parker... York prefers the NCAA Tourney

FF.) UVM has free online streaming for all home games

GG.) Orono may as well be in Africa when commuting from Conn, bring the camper and plan on at least 3 days... 4 in the winter

Lots of fun at today's festivities at the XL Center. All the state pols were there as well as the UConn President and Athletic Department, Joe Bertagna, Todd Krygier, and the AD's from UML, UMA, and PC I believe. Quite a crowd and the band sounded good.

Full speed ahead.

Was nice to hear them talking about moving HE games back to Storrs in the future. Definitely seems like they're serious about upgrading and building a strong program without half-assing it. Could end up being a very solid addition for HE.

Unfortunately I didn't make it as plans got sidetracked by my daughter's need for a car (oh just take Dad's, he'll get by!!!) but good to hear it went well! brassbonnaza, isn't that what a few of us have been saying right along?

Well these are the first public statements from the school on it in at any length. It remains to be seen whether they'll act on their serious words, but it's definitely encouraging at this point.

The rivalries in both football and hockey are gonna be awesome in a few years after the respective programs get up to speed. Looking forward to seeing UMA at UConn's opener at the Rent the Thursday before Labor Day weekend.

I was reading an online story about this on the UConn athletics site and they had an interesting poll. It asked them which program would be UConn's hockey rival be. The votes (over 50%) were overwhelmingly for Boston College. I would have thought UMass would be UConn's natural rival way more than BC would.

The whole ACC split and BC supposedly playing a role in blocking UCONN to the ACC is probably fresh on people's minds. Plus the fact that BC and UCONN are the only BCS programs in New England would also influence that.

I really like UMass Hockey, but UMass Football is by far my first love. You better believe I will be at that game and I really do hope a rivalry develops across all sports with UConn.

Yeah, well it is not going to be much of a rivalry for awhile. But some day ....
