And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

At least 14 dead at a theater shooting at the midnight showing in Aurora, CO. Breaking news live on NBC and other networks.

The shooter is in custody. He told police that he had explosives in his apartment and they were booby-trapped...SWAT team and a robot are searching now.

Eye witnesses report they originally thought it was part of the show until people around them started dying...the shooter was dressed as Bane...

Nice Planet.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Hoping to catch it on a first showing on Sunday or Saturday. I'm thinking Sunday will be the best bet.

Edit: nevermind. Booked a ticket for a 10:20am showing on Sunday.....for $6.25 (which INCLUDES the Fandango service fee). Win. Even got the seat that I generally look for, when I go to a movie. :)
The theater has assigned seating? Things are going wrong in this world.

I wonder how many antidepressants that whack job in CO is taking. Will that get released? It seems like the majority of these mass murderers are all on psychotropic drugs designed to help.

I guess. It allowed me to choose my seat when I bought the ticket online.

And yeah, f the nutjob in CO.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

I know in Europe the assigned seating thing is big...I have heard it is starting up in the US but minus VIP seating I have never seen it.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Warner Brothers has canceled the Paris premiere event of TDKR and theaters in the US are considering closing today. My mother just told me theaters in NYC are still undecided even as we approach the noon hour...

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Are they closing out of fear or out of mourning...because honestly one nut in CO doesnt make everyone else less safe. If they are doing it to mourn the loss of life then it makes total sense. (though some people will get angry)

I'm not angry if they do it, but I don't think it makes sense either.

Apparently all theaters will go ahead with their planned showing, but with "heightened security." Around here that really doesn't mean much...the people who work at the theater are still high school kids. It's not like I feel safer because Skippy is keeping a closer eye on things.

A twist you didn't see coming...

I don't know. Any idiot can see a violent movie, buy a gun, and go on a rampage like this.

So then might as well close all movies...no one will ever be safe as long as we fear the nutjob around every corner.

Action movies have been around for ever, nuts have been around since Cain and Abel yet you never hear about stuff like this at movies. (I remember being a kid and it happening at showings of Boys in da Hood) Sure it is possible some other nutjob might go copycat and try the same thing but the chances are slim and I think ceremonializing what happened will make things worse than if we just move on.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Just came back from my first movie since the operation. I thought it was very good but not as good as the second one. This follows the original Star Wars trilogy in that the second film is the strongest.

Slight spoilers
I saw the "surprise twist" near the end coming a mile away. That took away a little of my enjoyment because after all that buildup the ending should be awesome, but it wasn't because I knew what was coming. I'll be interested in hearing from others if they saw it coming too or if it's just something I picked up on by chance. If it is telegraphed it really shows a weakness in the film.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

I knew it was coming...not because it was telegraphed. In fact, I thought they did a good job of not giving away most of the twists until the last second which is tough these days.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

If you're reading this thread you should expect spoilers, so **** yo couch.

Good movie but it is just the first two rolled into one. Bane is just a bigger 'badder' Joker and it's the League of Shadows destroying Gotham plot all over again.

I hated the ended to this more than the second. Not because it was as weak a resolution but because the second didn't actively negate the entire movies build up to Bane being this endlessly badass mofo. No, he's not the kid you saw in the prison, he's just some guy that was there who had a disease. Bane is just a random guy who got the plague and a doctor did.... something. He doesn't even get a teddy bear. Talia gets it all. Doesn't this also make Bane like twice Bruce's age?

Does Alfred say anything that isn't a pre-prepared speech?

Robin, why include this at all if it's intended to end the series?

How does Bruce get past the fact that his body is destroyed? At the start of the movie he can barely walk but by the end he's able to beat up Bane who can smash through stone just by flailing his limbs? The power of fear?

Why did they have to have dramatic music playing over otherwise important and dramatic dialogue? The scene with Robin trying to get the kids past the cops on the bridge sounded more like he was trying to yell over the music.

Ugh, I don't even want to think of anymore plot drive thrus like how they were unable to point out that all the trades for Bruce to lose his fortune all occurred while the stock exchange was being held hostage?

It's a movie. It's not meant to be perfect like real life.

Great movie but nothing tops the Joker. The 2 hours and 45 minutes flew bye. Oh and Bain really packs a punch.

Nothing is ever perfect but considering the time, effort, and money that goes into these things, is expecting them to try for perfection too much to ask?
