Anchorage Goes Flat: UAA vs. North Dakota February 11th & 12th

Re: Anchorage Goes Flat: UAA vs. North Dakota February 11th & 12th

Attendance of 12,090 ... wow.

UAA is getting to be a big draw.

I know the place was sold out, but i thought capacity was in the 11,000's
It is. The UND media guide lists capacity at 11,634. Anything more than that is standing room only in the club lounges.

I'm surprised that it's never been that much before. Was this the biggest crowd ever?

I don't think so. I believe Sweeney said something about it being top 5 though.

Attendance at REA tonight is 12,090 -- the second-largest attendance in the building's history (first is opening night).

Very impressive and against the Seapups to boot.

Very impressive indeed. But also very random. How does this end up happening against UAA? Can someone explain?

Re: Anchorage Goes Flat: UAA vs. North Dakota February 11th & 12th

Part of that may have to do with the comeback tie to open the season...other than that, I really have no idea.

Duluth fans are probably asking how SCSU beat their team 8-2 on Friday and tied them on Saturday (at HOME no less). And the answer is ... (ding-ding-ding), this is the WCHA. Ya just never know, and there are no done deals or sure bets.

No UMD fan is asking. We didn't play well enough. We already know. :D

Sorry to tell you that UAA is not a big draw. I would assume the biggest crowds at the Ralph would be from when UMTC is in town.

They were last weekend, and seems to have been in the other schools UAA visited this season as well, so I don't know what you are basing that statement on.

My experience over the last 5 years of being a college hockey fan. UAA, understandibly does not travel as well as other schools.

Re: Anchorage Goes Flat: UAA vs. North Dakota February 11th & 12th

Someone on Brad's Blog posted this as a possibility as to why attendence was so high on Saturday

Hadn’t played a Saturday night home game since Jan. 22nd and don’t have another night home game in regular season. I suspect that played into it. I think people like the before and after game activities of a Saturday night game. It’s a long time from Jan 22nd and March 12th
