Makes you want to go work at McDonalds.

Les-I have been semi retired for 9 years-for the first time I must say I am glad. But now I worry as a medical consumer that I will not be able to get the kinds of treatments that as a physician I know I will need. Sometimes it is no good to be in the field and know too much:eek:

Right with you there. I need a primary and no one who is open practices in a way I would consider OK.:(

We had to go out of network to get Jen's hand operated upon, out of network for my shoulder surgery, and out of network for my knee surgery. My primary physician is in network but he is getting so fed up I do not know for how long he will stay. :(

I have a PPO but I feel guilty going to the neurologist for my Migraines when I know a primary could probably handle it. (Some day I am just going to take the Axert or the Maxalt outta the closet and give it a go). At this point can't go HMO because the referral folks are getting so scary with what they allow (blocking referrals to people who have been seeing provider for a particular problem for 20 yrs and oops, sorry you can't maintain that relationship anymore). The system is just dam n scary.

10/12, much better than I thought I would do considering I get most of my news from either google or here.

We have PPO also-no way could we deal with that gatekeeper mentality of an HMO. Unfortunately we know enough about when it is time to see a specialist even when the referring physician may refuse. I don't feel at all comfortable with a GP who had exactly 4 hours of orthopedic training deciding if we need to see an orthopedic specialist.(and who it should be)

Why is Glenn Beck on there?
He's a national, political commentator that tends to be lampooned a bit by the Dems on the Hill. He's known well enough that he's not an obscure reference, but he's no Limbaugh or Hannity.

Last I knew he had 4 books in the top 25 on NY Times bestseller list

12 out of 12

Neither reason explains why he's on a list of questions that deal with government and government officials, not talk show hosts.

I mean, he could have raped and murdered a girl in 1990, not saying that he did, but we just don't know.

You could say that about any government official in D.C., too.

Well yeah, but it is better to say it about Beck since that is exactly what he does about anyone he is talking about. when he isnt crying like Dick Vermeil of course ;)

Re: America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 - Part 2 - Deathers vs. Commies

60 Minutes did an interesting piece last night after the Pats game about end of life care. According to the broadcast the govt spends 50B a year through Medicaid for the last two months of people's lives, and this is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Makes all that nonsense about "death panels" out of the Sarah Palin worshipers out here all that more dangerous, and idiotic talk like that prevents the country from tackling real problems.

Now I would not call CBS a Sarah Palin worshiper, but if they are floating a trial balloon that death costs too much, wouldn't a reasonable conclusion be that there is thought of a cost/benefit analysis somewhere out there for those last 60 days that will cease treatment and send the terminally ill off a bit sooner than what nature intended?
