Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

lol.

I don't want Big Brother or teen South Carolina to win, but I enjoy watching both teams.

I like the cowboys and the father daughter team (they're still in it, right...they get very little face time).

I was surprised the detectives used the U-turn, especially when in first place. It certainly defeats the purpose of a "blind" u-turn when the team you u-turn is likely in 2nd at that point...they'll know who it was. And agreed that while Joe's attitude may have been annoying, his knee would have probably kept him from being competitive. If you want to win the race take out your strongest competition when you can.

I like team Big Brother, only because the Mrs. and I watched Big Brother. They were entertaining there. I thought they were entertaining then and I think they are still entertaining.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

I put that one down to the guy being a major jerk, not the girl dogging it.

If you had seen these two on Big Brother you would know Jeff is not a jerk. They poke fun at each other. He did show signs of frustration but his comment could have come from him if they were in first place.

He wants to win the money. I'm not so sure she cares as much.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

I'm so glad that the idiot couple are still in. Brent and Caite. I don't understand how people that stupid can keep winning.

On the other end of the spectrum, I'd like my top 3 to be the cowboys, the detectives, and Steve and Allie. The cowboys are great because they can make fun of themselves. "Heck, we weren't in the same town!"

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

That was one of the better episodes of the last few seasons, even though my preferred team was (deservedly) philiminated.

The only positive about Caite staying is that every week she manages to say something even more hateful than the prior one.

Both of the girls mixing up Joan of Arc with Noah really says something.

I'm amazed they've lasted this long. But there has always been at least one dumber team out there so they've squeaked by. They are definiately doomed for a last place finish, but odds are they will get a non-elimination leg since we're due for another one just to keep them around an extra week.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

I was disappointed to see the big brother team leave but I have never seen any team not hurry. At some point they forgot they were in a race. It almost looked like they gave up. Give them the award for best attitudes. They almost looked happy it was over.

It's funny how when my favorite teams are ahead I hate the equalizer and when they are behind I want to see one. I'm not sure how far behind they started from the others but the leg didn't give them an opportunity to catch up.

I thought the leg was boring and really hope Caite is the next to go.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

Is it my imagination or have they started showing a little more of the beauty of the country and not as much of the "six characters in search of a neuron" airport scenes?

It may just be that the last locale was drop dead gorgeous; anyway, the locations should always be the star and should get a lot more air time than the fungibles who are competing.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

I thought this episode was boring. A French vineyard? Meh. The grape-finding task may have been arduous, but it wasn't made out to be. My DVR got mucked up by the delay thx to the bouncyball games, so I missed about an 8 minute chunk about 1/3 of the way through, so I couldn't figure out why so many people were getting lost. Even crashing the car wasn't that interesting.

I was expecting a lot of teams to have problems with the math in figuring out how to make x wine glasses into precisely 15 levels. But no one did, and they didn't seem to enforce the rule.

Seychelles? That's cool. Looking forward to that.

This year lacks a clear villain (the cops even got away with the blind u-turn). The cowboys are a likeable team, but the editors seem obsessed with showing us the dumb "mactor" teams (model + actor). The casting feels forced this year.

It has been a little more rooted in the local area than in years past, I agree with Kepler. They have not been in areas where travel is difficult - buses in Chile, driving in France. I was wondering if anyone would get hung up with the fact that most flights into Bariloche go to Aeroparque in Buenos Aires and not Eziza, the long-haul airport*. (I remember a few seasons back, last time they were in France, one team went to Orly trying to get to NYC when De Gaulle is the intl. airport.) I don't think there are a lot of flights into the Seychelles and I can't imagine transportation infrastructure is that great there. Hopefully this is when it kicks in.

* True story: this burned me once. I once got on a plane from Ushuaia in the deep south, boarding pass said destination Eziza. Sitting in the back of the MD-90, right next to the engines, I couldn't hear announcements or see out of the window thx to the engine. The plane landed, and I expected to get out and walk over to my connecting flight up to Washington. Descending the airstairs at the back of the plane onto the tarmac, I looked around and realized that the plane had landed at Aeroparque - the wrong airport. I double checked by boarding pass, and I was indeed supposed to be at Eziza. Made for a very stressful mad dash across Buenos Aires rush hour, but I made my flight out of EZE by the skin of my teeth.

I think it's pretty anonymous that everyone wants Brent and Caite gone too, and it wasn't even Caite who made the idiotic comment this time.

They are the comic relief.

The cowboys got a respite, thankfully, I am sure they are a fan favorite. I think it's amazing that people display such lack of common sense. How many teams left without counting their coconuts? And year in, year out, teams keep getting burned by NOT READING THE CLUE.

Disappointed that they went all the way to the Seychelles and are leaving after just one episode. No direct flights out of Mahe (I get that confused with the capital of Mauritius, Male) to KL, could be some interesting travel drama if they choose to show it.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

"Did we get all the coconuts?" "Yes, we got all the coconuts." "Are you sure we got all the coconuts?" "Yes I'm sure we got all the coconuts"........as they leave without looking back. :p

Brent and Caite were made for each other.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

Favorite part was when B&C were on the boat, and brent was talking. In the background, caite was rubbing her chest in what I assume to be either an attempt to get dry or a pure ratings grab. I was hoping this scene would be all over the net, but tis not the case yet.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

The Cowboys were so stupid this time. Why wouldn't you just bring the bottle with you? I bet they forgot it and that "I couldn't get it out" bs was just that.

I knew the moment Phil asked who they wanted gone that the lesbians wouldn't be gone. Just knew it. Ugh!

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

Does CBS know in advance which legs are the elimination legs? It was "lucky" (if you want to call it that) that a team they believed would be popular was kept on.

And yes, at least take the bottle with you, even if it means dumb luck!

I even paused it to show the scene to my wife because she missed it in real-time.

I wanted to see an instant replay when the blond lesbian was blaming the other one for chucking the coconut over the side. Who was to blame? And has that blond bwitch actually done anything? Anything? Hasn't the other one done all the challenges? Talk about useless as teets on a bull.

Re: Amazing Race 16 - Villains, Barbie Dolls, and Wierdoes In Exotic Locales, Oh my!

Just got back from vacation and watched the last 3 weeks, luckily the last 2 were online as I taped mainly 60 minutes due to basketball.

Brent and Katie and Team Big Brother are/were totally clueless, granted the cowboys for the most part are too but they admit it.

In the first French episode I really enjoyed the Verdun WWI roadblock, thought the cops probably should have U-turned the cowboys but looks like Joe's mouth sunk them. I wonder if any of the other teams could have completed the Morse code challenge.

Second French episode was pretty boring other than getting to the right Tattinger's location the toughest thing was walking through the vineyard to find the clue. This was probably the rare occasion where I would have chosen the luck task over the physical challenge because building a pyramid with 600 glasses looked tough.

This week's episode was okay and probably the most blunders I have ever seen in a single episode since the one several years ago when numerous teams filled their cars diesel tanks with unleaded fuel. I completely hate when they get them together at the airport, my guess is the detectives and lesbians had a pretty good size lead over the teams at the back of the pack. So this was just luck if you get off the plane and get through customs fast you get on the first helicopter, I guessing this is probably why this was a non-elimination leg.

I can't believe the mistakes people keep making. Read the clue follow the clue. If it says take all the coconuts take all the coconuts and check. If it had been me I would have walked behind the cart to make sure no coconuts bounced out en route. Take the clue and anything you retrieve like a gnome, note or clue with you. Interesting note on Steve and Allie leaving their backpacks behind. The other teams seemed to leave theirs behind before they swam so I guess the will get them back? Also I am assuming it is in the rules that they can't go back after the end of the leg? They have 12 hours between legs so why couldn't they hire a boat from the resort the leg ended and to go back and get their bags?

I like the detectives who are my choice to win, Steve and Allie and cowboys who crack me up. I like one of the brothers, the one who is a wise a** and dislike Katie and Brent, though I only dislike them unanimously and the lesbians.

On another note when I was on vacation in New Zealand they had an interview with Phil on the local news where he says he thinks they should come to New Zealand more often so I am guessing they may have been filming a leg for next season their at the time.

I believe it was in the fall this year that they said they were going to show more of the countries they visited and less of the teams hanging in airports, riding trains and such as that was something fans of the show had requested.
