Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

I'm no Swami, but here's a fan's eye view of--"The Senior Seven"

Monty would never be mistaken for Snow White and this Senior Class will NOT be mistaken for the 7 Dwarfs averaging almost 6' 1" and over 200 pounds. The Seven* began their careers at DU in the fall of 2011 and four years later, still together, the journey to the Frozen Four and a NCAA Championship is the goal. Wouldn't that be Magnificent for the Senior Seven!

Ty Loney played in all 42 games last year and made his presence felt. Certainly at the NCHC Tourney earning a spot on the All Tournament Team,. When he's on a hot streak, pucks will be flying toward the net. Just 27 more points=the Century Club.#DUit! ( And he has the blondest hair and rosiest cheeks of all.)
Daniel Doremus, an Aspen native, was both versatile and another Iron Man for the Pioneers last year. But his play was golden at the NCHC tourney, named to the All Tournament team and selected as the Tournament MVP. Danny Boy ( who's a cutie) will be wearing an "A" on his chest.
Matt Tabrum is from Colorado Springs, but knew enough to head north to Denver to play hockey. And play he did--in all 42 games last year. As a team player he gave up some scoring opportunities to became the centerpiece of the Mash Line.
Larkin Jacobson only played in 30 games but he found his role on the Mash Line and Pios' opponents "felt" his presence on the ice. Three time Team Scholar Athlete with a perfect 4.0, Hollenbeck Scholar.
Josiah Didier is a Defenseman with Capitol D, but instead will wear an "A" on his jersey. He never shies away from a hit. He blocks shots. Hard to imagine how many bruises he accumulates in a season. Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens. He scored more goals (4) in one game at the Habs prospect camp than he has in 3 years at DU. (Rumor has it he could be called Josiah "The Body" Didier.)
Zac Larraza, called Viva by posters, grew up in the hockey hotbed of Arizona and was drafted by the hometown Coyotes. Scored the winning, his first, goal in the 2nd OT in the WCHA Final Five semifinals. Broke his collarbone and missed 8 games last year. Will need him to stay healthy and score more clutch goals.
Joey LaLeggia called Leggs by many, but perhaps we should call him "All" as in All Conference Rookie Team. National All Rookie Team. All Conference(WCHA) x 2, All Conference Team (NCHC), All Tournament Team and the big one, All American. He'll even be wearing an "A" on his sweater. With 92 career points there's no doubt he'll be on the offense. Drafted by Edmonton.

*The missing link--Scott Mayfield took his l-o-n-g, lean body to Long Island after his sophomore year.
DU Career stats-- 7-22-29 188 PIM. 7 NHL games so far,.

David Makowski assigned to Hamilton by the Habs.

BTW Mayfield scored an empty net shorty for the Isles to give them a 2 goal margin in the last 71 secs of the game.

It was a 180 footer and it would have been icing had he missed it. He hit it dead on.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Nice... ironic you quote about Makowski .... I remember David's 180 footer with the goalie in the net.....Michigan Tech I believe

Hi everybody.... happy summer. I am in the middle of a major domestic argument here, and I need your help. I mean, this is escalating!!!! We're pretty flippin serious about our DU hockey in this family here.... to set the record straight... tell me (and my argumentive wife - Gold Bless her) Didn't DU at one time hold a crimson and gold; or maybe it was crimson and white ..... pre-season scrimmage one year at Madness arena... atleast once since the fall of 2002? Similar to what the NHL Avs do... the roster gets split in half - they sit on opposite benches, wear contrasting colors, and the Coaches/Assistant Coaches "compete" against each other .... PLEASE someone step in here. LOL Thank you.... The one thing sweetie and I both agree on... is.... GO DU! CC Sucks

I hear there is going to be a Crimson/Gold game on Saturday the 11th...

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Every hockey site or blog has NHL"s Projected Lines. Just found these on Along The Boards, Pretty similar to others I've seen.
Matt Donovan in for the Isles Scott Mayfield back to Bridgeport
Jason Zucker on 4th line for Minnesota (probably not the checking line)
Drew Shore back in San Antonio
Patrick Wiercioch 7th D-Man for Ottawa--battling for ice time. Sens have 8 one-way contracts on the blue line, someone is going to get traded.
Joe Colborne right wing on the same line with left wing Johnny Gaudreau for Calgary ( brings back memories of Jumbo [Coach calls him Colby] and the Goal Czar--11 1/2 inches difference in height)
"While it is enticing to consider the potential of the projected third line of Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Colborne, the reality is that a team with so much depth this young will struggle to make an impact". - See more at: http://alongtheboards.com/2014/09/30-15-calgary-flames-season-preview/3/#sthash.Yohw3tSt.dpuf

Pretty safe to say Carle in Tampa, Bozak in Toronto, Stastny in St. Louis, and banged up Beau in Pittsburgh are dialed in, but Butler is a depth player for the Blues and may start in the AHL.

Three players on DU are ranked in the top 50 NCAA players by Ryan Kennedy in The Hockey News.

21. Evan Cowley, Denver – With Sam Brittain gone, Cowley can put his stamp on the crease with the Pios. The big netminder is a Florida pick.

35. Quentin Shore, Denver – The third of four hockey brothers, Shore is an Ottawa prospect who brings some nice scoring punch back to the lineup.

50. Joey LaLeggia, Denver – The skilled offensive blueliner is an Edmonton pick primed to put up big numbers as a senior.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Problem with Piovision. I logged Iin easily as a test for tomorrow night. My subscription is supposed to expire after RPI series. They asked me to subscribe now. Women's soccer is on. I could only get it if subscribed. They still had my account personal info.
Road game?. 800 games available with yearly subscription. If say a UNO home game is on cbssports/Piovision, can we get that feed? If energized, I'll try and see which schools are part of new CBS package.

Signed up already for the season. It's $99 and includes 100 schools including DU. On a monthly basis it's $10 a month. CBS didn't have any of my old info.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Any idea how many of those 100 schools are we playing at?

Obviously no NCHC schools but there are a number of Hockey East schools including Notre Dame, BC, BU, Providence and Umass for hockey. Looks like some B1G games are on it also. It also appears the Big East is on here so there could be a number of Lax games. I also see John Hopkins. Looks like some SEC teams also.
