Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Will Butcher invited to USA U-20 WJC Evaluation Camp. He is one of three returning d-men from the 2013/14 team which failed to medal. I think you can probably pencil Will in for the 2014/15 WJC team. Evan Cowley was not selected as one of the 4 goalies for the camp after attending a goalie pre-camp a few weeks ago. This year's WJC is being held in Montreal and Toronto. The USA will play its 4 preliminary round games in the Bell Centre starting Dec. 26th. Should be some great hockey. The Quarterfinals will be in both Monteal and Toronto with the semis and finals in the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

Congrats to Butch even if an expected selection. Looking forward ro see him again in the WJC.
Didn't really expect Cowley to be selected, but it was an honor to go to the goalie camp.
Was a bit surprised the other U18 goalie, Minney, was not chosen for this camp.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

In mid-May Cosida announced the Academic All-District At-Large Team. Sophomore Gabe Levin was named to the District 7 Team. None of the 4 members of Cosida at DU saw fit to announce this achievement on the Athletics web page.

More recently, the selection of Will Butcher for the WJC Evaluation Camp has not made news. And if you recall Mike Chambers announced the selection of Grant Arnold as Captain a day before the DU release. But then again what can you expect from "Sports Information", and I use the term loosely, Department that can't even get an accurate count of the Hockey All Americans.

You've got to learn to roll with these punches. . .like I do. You don't see me getting all worked up by this continuing unprofessional shiza. It's not like we've got a ruptured duck in our hockey locker room or anything.

Well, since we don't have a ruptured duck in the locker room, then what is the problem?:D

Jim Montgomery‏@DUCoachMonty·Jun 19
@t_moore8 was one of top freshman in the country and should be invited to WJC tryouts. Pt a game plyr and DU leading scorer #DUit

Just thought it would be interesting to see how Trevor Moore stacked up against other NCAA forwards invited to the WJC Camp

Trevor Moore 42 14-18 32 5'9" 170 3/31/1995 University of Denver

Hudson Fasching *^ 40 14-16-30 6-2 207 7/28/95 . University of Minnesota

Tyler Motte ^ 34 9-9-18 5-10 185 3/10/95 University of Michigan
John Hayden ^ 33 6-10-16 6-3 210 2/14/95 Yale University
Taylor Cammarata^ 39 10-17-27 5'7" 156 5-13-1995 minnesota
J.T. Compher ^ 35 11-20-31 5'11"184 4/8/95 michigan
(Think Motte or Compher was injured at Camp or would have made the team)

Sean Malone 31 6-15-20 6-0 190 4/30/95 Harvard University
Anthony Louis 36 12-13-25 5-7 150 2/10/95 Miami University (NCHC)
Vinni Lettieri 37 2-6-8 5-10 182 2/6/95 . University of Minnesota

PERHAPS HIS PLAY WILL EARN HIM AN INVITE IN dECENBER.

Expect PC to make Killer Miller's hiring official as former PC Director of Hockey Ops and Asst. Coach David Berard just took the Holy Cross head coaching job.

And its official

http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2014/06/23_miller_returns_to_college.php

Okay, what's going on with Steve Miller? Leaves Madison after 6 months--Not Associate head coach, thought this was supposed to be official weeks ago--family moving back east ?--pictures of Killer and son at junior, junior hockey tourney on Twitter. I am officially confused.

Zach Miller and incoming recruit Brendan Bomberry will be playing for the Iroquois nation at the FIL World Championships in Denver next month. Bomberry was rated as #4 recruit by Inside Lacrosse.

Former DU Pioneer Andrew Lay will be playing for Japan at the Championships.

Team Canada loaded with Pios--Wes Berg, Mark Matthews, Geoff Snider, Roy Dillon, Cam Flint and Jeremy Noble.

Team USA is missing Pios, but has 3 players from the Denver Outlaws, Zink, Snider, and Schwartzmann. All of whom have NCAA credentials--Maryland x2 and Hopkins.

More news not reported by the Sports Incompetent Distribution system:
Ron Grahame is now treasurer of the NCHC and serves on the Board along with Peg BD

Chair of the NCHC’s Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) is now Denver FAR Nancy Sampson for the 2014-15 season, with Sampson serving on the Board of Directors during her term.

Also, Denver head coach Jim Montgomery is now the NCHC’s American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) representative for 2014-15

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Check the DU website. Everyone in the SID department with a title is gone. There have been no announcements regarding replacements. Until there are new people in place I would expect some spotty info from DU.

Adrian Veideman going to play for the Stavenger Oilers in Norway next season.

And we have a Brock Trotter sighting. After being out of hockey for 2 years due to injuries, he has signed a tryout deal with Medvescak Zagreb in the KHL.

Jeff Howard, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations, is beginning his 2nd year in this position. Perhaps he also noticed a lack of competence or productivity in SID. Hope he chooses well.

Kudos to PBD on another successful year==#43 in the country without football. Pretty darn good.

Brad E. Schlossman@SchlossmanGF · Jun 5

The University of Denver has chased out its entire media relations staff. What is going on in that athletic dept?
Guess we will have to start reading the Grand Forks Herakd for DU news.:o
