Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Okay, so because this is ALL things Denver...

In yesterday's sports section of the Denver Post there is a picture of Keri Herman, who finished in second place in a freeskiing event in Park City, Utah, thereby earning a spot on the U.S. Olympic team headed to Sochi. The caption of the picture identifies Herman as having attended the University of Denver.

My wife and I watch the NBC Nightly News almost every night. It seems for the past several weeks the lead story or a story addressed early in the broadcast deals with security concerns in and around Sochi. Tonight's broadcast featured a brief on camera appearence by Keri Herman's mother. She said she twice cancelled plans to attend the games, but has since reconsidered and will attend the games.

Just as an aside...I wonder what the over/under is on the number of times Comrade Putin will take a gigantic crapovski in his pants due to security breaches at the games.

It was a different time, of course, but in Sapporo as we were covering the 70M jumping (swept by the Japanese in front of 100K) and we were leaning out of the windows to get a better view of the competitors as they came down the ramp. Unknown to us, HIM the Emperor was in attendance and some very polite, but very insistent, very muscular guys appeared, suggesting we should cut that out. Please. Okay. You talked us into it.

The gold medalist was Yukio Kasaya, a local boy who worked for Sapporo Beer. Anyone who dismisses the power of pure unadulterated joy generated by the Olympics should have been there when those three Japanese boys took the podium for the playing of Kimigayo. It was a moment I'll never forget.

I was there for that! Funniest moment in my DU history!!

I missed that, but I was there when the Bleacher Creatures brought out a coffin for a UMD playoff game. That was choice (and probably a DG production, too).

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

UND coming in on an 9 game unbeaten streak but DU will be the biggest test of the streak thus far. Brittain's playing like a man possessed looking at his numbers but I'm just glad Olkinura is no longer there as he seemed to turn into Patrick Roy every time we played the Pios. UND is fully healthy for the first time all year starting with the CC sweep and it's showed in their play. Maybe Magness Arena can put a few Denver fans in the seats for a change! ;)

Go Sioux

UND was healthy till the Goaltender Gothberg was injured.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Saunders has had good games against DU before... when he was playing for HUNTSVILLE

Schlossman (sp?) had a tweet about it yesterday. IIRC, he had 41 saves in the win and Huntsville was 1-21-1 before that game. Ugly. At least we can be fairly positive that he won't make 41 saves in a game this weekend.

I suppose it is worth mentioning that the very next day he got pulled after 2 periods and 5 or 6 goals against....

Thanks for the reminder. I had completely forgot that part of the story. I've got Friday tix this weekend so I'll being seeing you both nights. There should be a PioneerPhanatic sighting as well.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

This is the quietest pre DU vs fka sioux week I can remember:confused:

No:
Let's Go DU
Game thread
Dasher dancing reports
Coach shooting the "bird" at the refs comments
Jokes about bad boyz, lawn mower tossing, lack of trees, green hair, green teeth, green weinies/meanies,.. etc

What's the world coming to?

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

I agree with you-Penn State and the greedy Big Ten ruined everything! But best of luck against N.Dakota. They are very hot right now and need to be cooled down.
WMU Broncos need all the help we can get to move up in the standings, especially, when the NCHC bloggers picked the Broncos to finish dead last.
