Lance Momotani?

The Spring/Summer after Frank Serratore's first season, my dad and I were on campus and ran into Frank. Anyhow, his side of the conversation went basically like this: "I don't know what the phuck anyone thinks is going to happen next season, but my top returning scorer is Momotani. Lance phucking Momotani..."

Ahh, the Wade Bennett/Sean Toriumi Era. Hard to believe it's ending so soon. Seems like it had only just started. [reaches for moist towelette to dab away tears] The Pioneers haven't faced the impending loss of such firepower since the halcyon days of Joey Brehm and Julian Marcuzzi.

I think you forgot Jeff Rodgers and Brock McMorris, but then Jon James might feel a bit left out...and yet Anders Eisner wants in too. However, who could leave out Rolf Beutel?

He also once referred to Boone as "that phucking faggot."

Nice win, DU. A win tomorrow and a UMD loss for home ice would make for a nice way to end (or continue) the season. The team needs some good vibes, and they need to finally put two good games together.

Yeah, they do. It was also nice to hear the students making some noise. While I'm pretty sure the trustees will want to put a stop to that, it's still a good thing.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

A few observations on last night's game.

--While it was nice to have LaLeggia back in uniform he played decidedly fewer minutes in the game than is usually the case. I hope he is fit to play more minutes in the playoffs next weekend.

--For the first time in perhaps five or six home games both Dan Doremus and Zach Larraza played in accordance with their size. Yes, Zach scored last night, but more importantly he played with an aggressive manner I thought had been lacking the last several games in which I had seen him. Doremus threw some resounding body checks and did terrific work along the boards throughout the game to dig out the puck. Denver doesn't have much size anywhere in its lineup--including up front--so seeing these two players establishing a physical presence was a welcome sight.

--I understand Jim Montgomery said in his post-game remarks that David Makowski was a bit "under the weather." I'm glad to hear that explanation, because frankly, I thought Makowski had an awful game last night. His health is now an understandably mitigating circumstance. I'm guessing he didn't want to miss what might be one of the two final home games in his career.

--Every team undergoes injuries during the season. It's unfortunate that going into the last weekend of the regular season and with the playoffs coming next weekend Denver is missing: Josiah Didier, Quentin Shore and has Joey LaLeggia and David Makowski playing in less than peak condition. This coming week I'm guessing Montgomery will not be fully forthcoming about the availabilty of Didier and Shore for the playoffs. We'll have to see next Friday night if either is available once the opening faceoff arrives.

Nice job by the ski team. As for the lacrosse team, good job as well. However, Notre Dame was not ranked #1. Here's a link. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/lacrosse-men/d1/inside-lacrosse

I plan on attending the Denver-Penn State game on Monday in Barton Stadium. Altitude will televise the game live.
