Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Coach Monty updated the DU injury status. Viva was originally supposed to be out 6 to 8 weeks. He revised that today to 4 to 6 weeks and hopes for 4. Hawkinson continues to work on strengthening his shoulder.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Coach Jack Capuano likes his game.

It's pretty obvious that Donovan has had a major proponent and ally if you will, since before he was drafted - I'm talking about a former Isles player who is now infact one of Jack's Assistant Coaches - Doug Weight. A standout himself at LSSU before being drafted by the Rangers and leaving the Lakers early, Doug has always been supportive of guys coming through the NCAA and into the NHL. I understand he had a hand in Scott Mayfield's signing as well. As long as Weight is in the front office and behind the bench, I think you'll see more college guys in Bridgeport and New York.

Don't forget Cappy and GM Garth Snow are former Maine players. I don't think they care where a player comes from and scout everywhere for the best talent. The youngsters in their organization come from all over - college, CHL, Europe, Russia. As they are all former college guys they are not in the mold of the "old guard" who basically despised college players and Euros. There is nothing wrong in having management in your corner. :)

Bozie with a shorty last night in Leafs win over the Habs.
Bozie is in 4th place for the number of shorties in one season (5) and tied for 4th with 6 in career totals which was only 60 games.
Last year he was the only Leaf to score a short handed goal.

George Konik 1960, Wayne Smith 1965 & 1966, and Keith Magnuson 1968 & 1969

Looks like UNB's game on Monday against Air Force is canceled due to the government shutdown.

Donovan gets his first NHL assist in Isles 4-3 shootout win last night.
