Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Jim Montgomery has been offered the DU job. Jim Montgomery has not been offered the DU job. Okay, I'm glad we have some resolution to that situation. Now we can get on with the rest of the day.

Odds are that one of those reports is true. :)

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Why would anyone think that a Maine media outlet could have better sources in a week than the Denver media can develop over years? Jimmay being offered the DU job makes no sense in that light. I'll listen to Denver media about DU's situation, Maine media about UMaine.

You have to ask yourself who could be a source on both Whitehead's firing (which Goldberg broke) AND Denver supposedly offering to Montgomery (which Goldberg broke). If the report isn't true and no offer has been made, who would benefit from the release of such (mis)information. It wouldn't be Montgomery.

DU recruits:

>>Will Butcher with the U-18 in Russia for the World Championship. Exhibition game against Canada on 4/14. Tourney starts 4/18.

>>Jared Fiegl, a forward with the USA Hockey NTDP, credits his hometown Colorado Avalanche with igniting his hockey dreams. Read more about Jared and his time with the NTDP on usantdp.com: http://bit.ly/Zp3ecH

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

If Lee Goldberg is right, you have a new coach in Denver. If he is wrong he's going to look really, really foolish.

I suspect he has been offered the job, wants to first to tell his USHL team first, before there is a public announcement.

Saints final league game is tonight, playoffs start next week.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Nick Shore reported to be signing with LA Kings per Angelo Ricci. Jim Montgomery reportedly the new DU coach per Lee Goldberg of WCSH6 in Portland, ME. No official word yet.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Won't be disappointed wit Monty. Was Asst. here in Troy for our great coach Seth Appert. Great hockey guy. Should have never fired Gwoz.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

The following may not amount to a hill of beans, but...

When teams make a coaching change there can be fallout in terms of the near-term and long-term commitments who have pledged to play at a particular school. Will Butcher, a talented defenseman, has commited to D.U. Upon further investigation, when Butcher played for Dubuque in the 2010-2011 season--albeit just two games--his coach was Jim Montgomery.

Again that may not amount to a hill of beans. It may be nothing more than a coincidence. And on the other hand...;)

I should add that some of RPI's better recruits while he was there mentioned that he was the reason or an important reason that they came to Troy. Dubuque was an expansion franchise when he arrived and he got them to the top immediately.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Huge screw up by Maine. Of DU does well under Jim the Internet nutcases in Maine are going to be brutal. Expect a fire Corkum post early in the season.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Nick Shore going straight to the big club in LA with the Kings willing to burn a year of his contract. Tough to turn that offer down.

That will make Sam Brittain and David Makowski the only seniors on the team for the 2013-2014 season. I'm not including Jarrod "He's Still In No Man's Land" Mermis in that very short list. That's a young team. Additionally, I'm still holding my breath that Phoenix doesn't come calling for Zac Larraza before the start of the 2013-2014 NHL season.
