Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Thanks, I think Mullen is hurt but not 100% sure. AS we all know, the hockey alums and players are not happy with the Gwoz firing. Peter Mannino posted this on Twitter last night. They want some explanations from DU.

Woody Paige knows what hockey is? After all, he does work on ESPN...

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

In alphabetical order these are the names that have appeared in news articles, tweets and blogs as Gwoz's replacement. I don't know if DU is or has interviewed them but I do know they are in the interview process. This is a pretty strong group of coaching candidates.

Seth Appert - RPI Head Coach
Greg Brown - BC Assistant Coach
Mike Corbett - AF Assistant Coach
Dallas Gaume - Red Deer Former Assistant Coach (WHL)
Don Granato - USNDTP U-18 Head Coach
Derek LaLonde - Green Bay Gamblers Head Coach (USHL)
Scott McConnell - Chicago Steel Head Coach (USHL)

As always, I'm reminded of a movie. In the case of this particular codswallop, an electric scene from "Seven Days in May" comes to mind. Stay with it, because toward the end the president asks the conspirator where he hears the voice of the people. Sort of like the "strong desire" of DU students to have a new mascot. Where has that been heard? I don't know which is worse, changing a mascot in a spasm of PC, or hiding behind the students to justify it.

It is, however, reassuring that we'll be "honoring" Ruckus forever, because he's part of our "spirit heritage." Does that mean we won't be removing the GD jelly donut carpeting during the locker room makeover this summer (assuming it's still on) after all, because we want to "honor" Ruckus?

I think I just threw up. This is such bull****!

What a waste of time and effort.

Please tell me the consultant is not the one who designed the hawk/cow pie logo.

Let's all head to Winchell's for some jelly donuts.

Ruckus:The Jelly Donut Years. Ah yes, I remember them well. I'm sorry, but at the moment I'm unable to continue as I'm starting to tear up. Excuse me while I get a moist towelette.

Mullen is still on the Wolves roster, so you're right, he is probably injured.

BTW Noticed Drew Shore was out of the Florida lineup after Bjugstad was signed. But he is back in today. Missed 3 games due to upper body injury.

Heard Drew had a wrist injury.

You guys are worried about these trivial matters, like who's gonna replace Gwoz. While I'm wondering if the elk costume is going to be anatomically correct. If it turns out the elk is a gelding, nobody would be surprised.

I'm still rooting for the platypus. 80% maammalian genes, but also has genes normally associated with reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish. How much more diverse can you get? Totally PC.

Yeah. Earlier on I suggested Flub-a-dub from Howdy Doody, another multiple species animal. That wasn't exactly received warmly. Maybe "Platy" will be. What's that line in "War Games" where the biology teacher asks for an example of asexual reproduction, and Mathew Broderick says: "your wife?"

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

I still say the Astronaut is the way to go. With the mirrored-shield on the flight helmet locked in the down position, the gloves, moon boots and heavy orbit suit, it is truly non-gender specific. You can't hide an Elk vagina and get away with it; it will look like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Plus, with Colorado's (not to mention DU's) major non-involvement in the space program, it'll be a perfect fit! Pioneers of what, exactly?

We all remember that thrilling moment when Neil Armstrong said: "Denver, the Eagle has landed"

My money is on Barney or one of the Teletubbies. Something which reeks of being touchy-feely, inclusive and overly PC.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Here are your Final Four per Chambers, DU to hire the new coach over the weekend and will announce it early next week.

http://www.denverpost.com/du/ci_23005331/derek-lalonde-interviews-at-du-replace-george-gwozdecky

Seth Appert
Greg Brown
Derek LaLonde
Jim Montgomery

Appert and LaLonde have met with the search committee. Montgomery will meet with them today and Brown tomorrow. Montgomery is also a candidate for the Maine job.

OK, who do we like? I have a good feeling about Greg Brown. All those years under Jerry York?, he had to have learned something!!
