Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

As dirty a play as I have ever seen in college hockey.
Hmm... So you've seen what, 2, maybe 3 college hockey games? It was an obvious penalty, but as dirty a play as you've ever seen? Total rubbish.

By the way, I'm apparently in arsehole mode today. Who knew?

Fool probably has seen 2 or 3 periods, much less 2 or 3 games.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

It's official. With the results of games in the NCAA tournament thus far, some school will win its first NCAA division hockey title this year. Kinda cool.

He clearly hasn't been around. I seem to recall a recent DU player who came within a millimeter or less of being killed or paralyzed.

Seriously.

I watched and re-watched the Nick Shore hit today. Elbow down, gliding into it, stick down, forearm down, player had the puck so playing the body wasn't an extraordinary act, etc...basically nothing happened that should have elevated/aggravated the call up to a game misconduct, much less "the dirtiest play ever". I think Larazza gettin' stomped on against UAA a month back was much more ridiculous and that is just one example.

Anyhow, the only way that I see justification for the misconduct was to alleviate the potential for retaliation.

Contact to the head can be a 2, a 5 or a 5+10 minute penalty and, well, like I said, there was some justification for the alleviation aspect but the obvious attempts to injure (which should be present to level the harshest penalty) were not present.

As little as 5 years ago, and definitely anything past that, this would have just been a learning experience for the UNH skater to be more aware. I agree with the emphasis on head contact, but that whole directive is geared towards the skaters who use my aforementioned criteria.

Very cool! Crazy win for Yale today. My bracket is a mess. All I have left are the Riverhawks and the Dutchmen. I like their chances vs Q tomorrow.

The whole UNH hit thing is disturbing. First and foremost, like someone else already said, no one wants anybody to lose players to injuries. It was a bummer for the Wildcats to not have their top two forwards. I was upset by the comments that a small percentage of UNH fans made about DU being a bunch of goons. Nick Shore is a class kid. I think he had one other major all year (in 40 games). He was the number one point man for the team. He would never go after someone with intent (ever). For people to say that, is super offensive. Interesting that some of the same people last night were saying that losers make excuses etc--were saying they would have won with Goumas and Downing that it was all DU's fault. Again, let me be clear, I'm talking about maybe 5-7% of posters. Someone else clearly said that with Goumas and Downing out, UNH still would have fallen to Lowell today. UNH and DU both suffer to the same extent from early outs in the tourney. UNH has hosted the regionals in Manchester five times in the last 10 years and haven't made it out. Last night they were sleeping with the prom queen and tonight...?

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

I think this tournament is great for the game. Obviously, I wish DU was still in it, but I love the idea of a Frozen 4 where someone is guaranteed to win their first national championship. Personally, I'm pulling for Miami. I'm curious how many people are rooting for St. Cloud on the basis of conference solidarity.

St Cloud and Miami
  • same conference next year
  • never won the Frozen Four
  • red is primary color
and
Motzko and Blasi once worked for Gwoz

Flip a coin.

Cloudies have never been to the FF so I'm going with them, but would be happy with Miami. :D

This is DU hockey. Injuries happen to your best players because we are dirty and undisciplined, as evidence had it all year leading the world in penalties and being sore losers and taking runs at players who's season weren't over late in friday's game.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV

Holy crap...not a good time for this to occur. Wonder how much DU will struggle now in the new league.
