All Things Denver, XXX1X

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

Does anyone know what happened?, was he battling an illness?

From what I read in the Dead Thread (Cafe side of this board) he was in the hospital for undisclosed reasons, soon before his death.

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

RIP Old Pio, I just found out this evening he passed away last May.

Sad news. Was worried when he didn;'t respond to the news the rug in the hockey locker room was being ripped out.

I agree with Dmann. Old Pio will be, no, already is missed.
I would say Rest In Peace, but Old Pio wouldn't be happy that way. He would want to be involved in a lively discussion with a glass of Crown in his hand.

I can't believe we didn't find out until now. He used to email me on occasion. He hated troublemakers on our forum, loved to tell old stories, was proud of being "poster of the year" and above all was DU's number 1 fan. sigh...

Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

Sad to hear about Old Pio. We really will miss him. Heard this classic story abou him at DU. players party at a friend of mine's house. Probably around 1968. 20 or so players set their dentures in places they could retrieve later. Old Pio filled a jar with water and put all of the players dentures in it. Was a gas watching them find their teeth.

Beau Bennett's 1st goal of the season on the same night Sidney Crosby had his 1st shot on goal:eek:
Forward Beau Bennett tied the game 1-1 when he sent a wrist shot past a diving Nathan Beaulieu, through defenseman Tom Gilbert and past Price. See The Beau Show on NHL.com
