All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Jeff Drummond scored 100 points at DU going to the net. He was 5'7 170 lbs. So agree with swooping in to the goaltender.

There just aren't any goals to be has shooting low. The Air Force goalie was a perfect example. Volkenberg was down in the butterfly before every shot was ever taken. He was burned doing it on the Donovan shot and it may have led to the Ostrow defected goal.

Either way both goals were scored high.

As for shooting low and getting rebounds, watch Chevy in the butterfly. His legs form a "V" and rebounds off his pads head to the boards. Shots off his chest drop righ in front of him and are pounced easily upon. His rebound control is excellent.

Glasser & Gifford are two of many guys who shoot low and you can count their career goals on one hand.

Brock Trotter sent back to Hamilton by Montreal today.

Hope he gets another shot with the big club.

Bob Gainey stepped down as the Habs GM today (nice way of being fired). Pierre Gauthier took over. Who knows what direction the Habs are going to go in. Things area a mess in Montreal.

Trotter is a 'tweener. Talented AHL scorer who's not strong or tough enough to make it in the NHL. With his build, he'd need to be a pit bull.

No doubt he has the talent.

Was really hoping Trotter would get to stay longer.

A bit of trivia--Brandon, Manitoba, population about 43,000, is the hometown of both Trotter and linemate, Ryan White. What are the odds that on the same weekend 2 local boys would be called up and playing on the same line for the Canadiens? Is that a dream for small town Canadian boys?

BTW, Trotter is about 6 months older than White. But White is 2" taller and 15 lbs heavier.

Sweet. Bozak is on a bit of a roll lately.

"Tyler Bozak has been quite impressive centreing Phil Kessel on the Leafs' top line. Bozak scored the opening goal and he has now registered a goal in two straight games giving him 11 points in 15 games this season.

Bozak has become the Leafs' best faceoff man as he won 74 per cent of his draws against the Sharks and he took a game high 23 faceoffs. He also set a career high with six hits to tie Dion Phaneuf for the game-high."

Unfortunately the Leafs lost 3-2

Does that mean the Post recognizes DU Hockey deserves and has earned more attention?!

Terry Frei is a good writer. I always like when he has an article about DU hockey.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Now that football season is over, DU has a much better shot to get some more ink.

Good. Its no fun watching Areos games with out him in there.

J.P. did get into a decent fight last week at a game I attended. Here's a fight from earlier in the season. Guess the Wild have figured out he's not going to become an NHL forward with his skating.

Judging from the clip, he won't get there with his fighting skills, either.

Testuide was a walk on who got the most out of his talent at DU.

For him to even get the AHL is nothing short of amazing.
