DU's 2004 & 2005 National Championship teams had one thing in common. Both teams had the best record in the WCHA over the last 10 games of the regular season. In other words they were playing well heading into the playoffs.

2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009 DU struggled in the last 10 games of the regular season.

Hmmmm.

I think everyone is waiting to see if this DU team has that extra gear that can get them to the point of sweeps. A couple of good signs are that DU has made some recent adjustments to the power play that have paid off with increased production and a more unpredictable sense of rotations and puck movement. Donovan had a five point weekend, and that helps his confidence. The challenge now is to get something more offensively from the third line while maintaining production on lines 1 and 2. I'd also like to see Patrick Wiercioch regain his goalscoring touch. Last year, he had 12 goals, this year just four so far - fourtunately, he is a +8 and is still averaging a point per game, but I miss those slapshot bombs. The other major piece is instilling the work ethic to go the full 60 at full speed and not have those long, flat stretches where the work ethic is missing.

That is true that they wouldn't meet until the national finals if they stayed 1-2 in PWR but there is a lot of the season left. I don't think the DU boys would mind meeting Miami anytime during the NCAAs for a little payback from last year in Minneapolis. :D

Nah, last season was payback for '04 in the Springs. It's time for a rubber match.

Thank you dg and thanks to candycanes99 for putting it up.

Tyler Bozak gets his 5th assist tonight(1-5-6) in the Leafs loss to the Kings.
This was Tybo's 9th game in the NHL. Isn't this when NHL salary kicks in?

I would think 10 games... Looks like he could end up staying with the leafs.

Tyler is on a two-way contract. Every day he is in the NHL he gets paid at the NHL rate in his contract and every day he is in the AHL he gets the minor league rate. There is no waiting period for the NHL contract to kick in when he is on the Leafs active roster. FYI, players are paid their entire annual salary between games 1 and 82 of the regular season. They don't get paid their regualr salary during training camp nor the playoffs.

There's also the issue of waivers, which he'd have to clear after spending 10 games or 30 days (IIRC) in the NHL, were he to be sent back to the Marlies. However, this is most likely an emergency call-up due to injuries, so that allows him to play as many games over as many days as the Leaves wish.

Tyler may also be exempt from waivers, given his age and lack of experience.

Bozak's Contract.

Don't forget about Canadian taxes which are quite high. He probably would have made the Assists Bonus ($300,000) if he'd be on the Leafs Roster all year.

Base Salary: $900,000 per year. (11 Grand per game)

Signing Bonus: $500,000.

$1.3 Million in bonuses for scoring 20 goals, 35 assists, making Rookie team ect.

$2 million in bonuses for being one of top 5 players in league, Hart Trophy, MVP, ect.

Its a two-way contract, if he gets plays in the AHL, he keeps the bonus and makes roughly $50,000 per year. ($750 per game).

32 games for the marlies=$ 24,000
9 games for the Leafs= 99,000
signing bonus= 500,000
Total $624,000

Plus his 1st goal makes ESPN's Top 10 on Sports Center

Was hoping to see Donovan as WCHA Rookie of the week, but at least he was nominated--with 5 points I should hope so. ;)

( Just because st cloud's Eddy scored both game winning goals against the gophs they gave it to him.)

Leafs have 28 games left so you could potentially tack on another $308,000 to make it $932,000 for the year with his bonus.

Beck played at DU from 1965-67 and was inducted into DU's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.

du78, so close, but no cigar :p
Harry Hollines played from 1965-68 and was inducted into DU's Athletic Hall of Fame with the Inaugural Class of 1996.
