Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Hey guys, just wanted to throw out my support. Tough weekend but you will pull through. We had one recently and it sucks, keep your heads up you will be fine. Coach gwoz will get you back on track. Good luck against No Dak, hope we don't have to face you guys down the road but will be rooting for you!
I'll be pretty shocked if anyone besides DU, Miami or Wisconsin wins the National Championship. You have to think at least two of the three will be in Detroit.

Very true, Id throw UND in that too. They are struggling now but if eidsness can figure it out they are very dangerous. I don't see a team in the east capable of knocking off the three you mentioned. Yale isn't tested and play high flying but stack them against a tough defense I think they struggle. UNH is solid and are playing better but we matched up well against them when we were in Durham earlier in the year. There is always a surprise team in the FF and I would watch out for SCSU, Mich St., BC, and Bemidji making a run.

Your last point is big because, I could be wrong, but would mean if we both finish 1-2 in the PWR we couldn't meet before the title game. Frankly I would prefer to avoid playing DU at any point but if it has to be the title game should we both get there I could deal with that.

That is true that they wouldn't meet until the national finals if they stayed 1-2 in PWR but there is a lot of the season left. I don't think the DU boys would mind meeting Miami anytime during the NCAAs for a little payback from last year in Minneapolis. :D

Which is exactly why I would like to stear clear of them for as long as possible. There is a lot of season left for sure and a lot can happen, I have a feeling DU will get back on track this weekend. Just hope it doesn't get too nasty and injuries or suspensions don't happen.

Too much on the line this weekend for DU and UND to do stupid things. I am expecting a tough, hard fought series without the extracurriculars like post-game brawls, etc. UND has a number of players injured and can't afford to lose any more and for DU they have already had two players suspended for a game each a few weeks ago. These teams are fighting for NCAA playoff positions and are two of the six fighting for a very tightly contested league championship.

Hockey's Future has Patrick Wiercioch as the #1 NCAA prospect for the Ottawa Senators. This excludes CHL and Euro players.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

We've known all along that this two week stretch was gonna be rough. The goal was four points in the four games. DU can still do it, just the hard way. Gotta get two points this weekend, no matter what. Boy do I have a firm grasp on the obvious. :D

BTW, those who inquired: the swelling has gone down where the Crown Royal bottle hit me in the face (after I threw it at my TV, missed, and it bounced off the wall and hit me). The contents of the bottle did not survive the weekend.

The whole fanbase is going to be in rehab if we don't get some sweeps soon.

Does anybody know if Dustin Jackson is hurt??

He played his junior hockey in Billings,MT.

I see he hasn't been playing at all this year. I am wondering what's up?? Thanks!!

He's out for the season with a broken leg suffered during the pre-season. He'll be back next year as a redshirt.

Well you needed the contents to kill some of the pain for medicinal purposes. :D :p ;)

Very true, but crazier things have happened. When these two get together the intensity picks up and tempers run wild. As an outsider I love watching this series it is great hockey. More on your last point, should UND get swept this weekend I believe it would drop them out of the NCAA in the PWR currently so the series has a lot riding on it.

Re: All things Denver XXVI: From Boonetown to Motown

Hmmmm.

[In additon to a pair of non-conference games]Denver has ten regular season WCHA games remaining on its schedule. The Pioneers play at North Dakota, home against Minnesota and Michigan Tech, hit the road to play Mankato and finish the regular season with a home and home series against Colorado College.

Thus far in the season Denver is: 2-0 versus North Dakota; 2-0 versus Minnesota; 1-0-1 against both Mankato and Colorado College. Denver has not yet played Tech. Against the four other WCHA teams remaining on its regular season schedule Denver is a combined 6-0-2.

Hmmmm.
