ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul

haven't either. Wasn't too interested behind 3-1 with less than 2 minutes to play:(
think i'll see if it is on nchc.tv

update;
not on the highlights, but on the game replay, you can see kiersted and durflinger behind the net face to face with a little shoving. Then it looks like kiersted does a major push with his stick and a forearm to the neck. Refs broke it up quickly after that.
( i guess "forearming" isn't in the rule book)

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kool Kwanza, or any other holiday of the season.

ICYMI
Playing for Norway at WJC -Div 1 or A (?) Emilio Pettersen won a bronze, tied for 1st on team
and 5th in tournament for scoring
Ian Mitchell will wear an A for Canada in the WJC which starts today. (On NHL Network Dave Starman just gave Mitchell high praise.)

Pios next game is Jan. 4,2019. Pettersen will be back in the Crimson and Gold, but Mitchell will still be wearing the red maple leaf of Team Canada.

Dylan Gambrell, AHL San Jose Barracuda,in the last 6 games has 5 goals and 1 assist.

Danton Heinen playing on the top line for the NHL Bruins.

Congratulations to Trevor Moore on his first NHL game and point for the Maple Leafs. BTW he was wearing #42, the same number Tyler Bozak wore for Toronto for 9 years before moving to St. Louis this year.

Check out http://MagnessMayhem.com. Pio players answering a series of questions about teammates. Fastest, toughest, best hands, etc.

Patrick Wiercioch will represent Canada at the Spengler Cup this week. He is with KHL Dinamo Minsk

Cheers! Been a long time since I've been on these boards. Hope you're all enjoying the holidays! Anybody heard if the new #5 will be back in the lineup this weekend?

First games of the New Year!
DU vs UW
Pios ended 2018 with 3 victories as did Wisconsin, but Badgers haven't played a game in almost a .month. DU has the advantage in most statistical categories. Add to that the "rust" factor and a fast start by the Pios could set the tone for the game and offset UW's home ice advantage.

FWIW Both teams are missing a top player to the WJC

Mitchell should be back with Canada's loss, no?

yes!
Certainly an unexpected return. Ian scored Canada's only goal in that game. Watched his post-game interview, he looks so very, very young and disappointed.

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul

Denver's 1-0 win over Omaha, Friday night, continues one of the more impressive recent runs of dominance in college hockey...

DU has won 13-straight games against UNO. The Pioneers have shut-out the Mavericks four-straight times, five of the last seven and seven times total during the 13-game winning streak. Omaha's last goal in the series came on March, 3 of 2017.

Only two current Mavericks have ever scored against Denver - Mason Morelli (3 goals) and Fredrick Olofsson (1)...

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul

Well a win like that (Saturday) makes up for that loss to UMD earlier this season. And also makes for an agonizing way for UNO to drop its 14th-straight to the Pioneers. At least they scored a couple...

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul

Any word on a possible return date for the new #5 and Cooley? Heard that 5 is out with an upper body. Cooley did not dress last weekend. Anybody know if he's practicing?

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul

What a strange weekend.
2nd bus trip of season--Start time delayed less than an hour later--game postponed.. Stuck behind a jackknifed semi in a "near blizzard" Seven hours for round trip to Monument.
1st bus trip-=- the bus AC broke when temps were in excess of 95 degrees
To be safe, the distance between DU and DIA should be the maximum allowable distance for bus rides.

Ooops, forgot Pios will have to go to make up CC game

So Viz, can you explain how the points work in the event of a tie? Did we get only one point in the tie with CC? If so, what's the point of the 3-3 and the shootout? Is there a way to get two points? And least question, when do we play the make up game?

DU got an extra NCHC point by winning the shootout. In a nutshell: Regulation/OT Win = 3pts winner, 0pts loser; 3x3/Shootout Win = 2pts winner, 1pt loser. Stats earned in 3x3 do not count toward conference or national statistics.

There has not yet been a make-up date announced -- both teams have one bye weekend left, but they don't align. I imagine we'll see a Tuesday night game sometime over the latter half of February, but who knows?
