Re: ALL THINGS DENVER--XL--This one's for Old Pio

Ok, I'm bored and have been thinking a lot about the Pioneers. I have been watching DU religiously since 1983. I will call this the "Dmann era" During this time period, we have had some amazing forwards. These are my top 10 favorites in no particular order during the "Dmann era": Dallas Gaume, Dave Shields, Angelo Ricci, Rick Berens, Gabe Gauthier, Paul Statsny, Drew Shore, Danton Heinen, Tyler Bozak, Jason Zucker. Care to rank them?

Don't know whether I can rank them, since I didn't see the first 4 play, but I would like too add to the list. Underdog Trevor Moore, played in Danton Heinen's shadow the last 2 years, passed over by the NHL draft and WJC as he led DU's scoring his freshman year, but did manage 120 points in his 3 years at DU. RnR Rhett Rakhshani n Tyler Ruegsegger. Both are Century Club members. Hard to forget Rhett's hat trick in 6 minutes that beat St Cloud 3-2. Since they both played on the same line, must admit I enjoyed listening to announcers attempting to pronounce their names. ;):p:rolleyes:

(When I was a student at DU I didn't know anything about hockey, in addition to my mind being clouded by alcohol consumed at the game pre-party and oxygen deprivation from climbing the narrow wooden stairs up to the student section.:o )

Thx to everyone who took part in this year's #GoldenTicket Campout - we'll see you back at Magness soon!! #DU1NATION
Make sure and listen for the fight song. "D-rah E-Rah N-rah ver"
Singing and Spelling will need practice.

Alums Heinen, Moore (1st goal), Carle, Zajac, Weircioch and Colborne all deserve a look.

So what are we going to do with 4 goaltenders? What's up with that?

North Dakota won a national title last season with 4 goalies on the roster. Definitely unusual, but helped early in the season when 2 of our top 3 goalies were injured.

Transfer rules --Packy Munson can practice, but not play.
Greg Ogard has been the traditional 3rd goalie that practices, but plays very little.
That leaves our top 2-- Tanner Jaillett and Evan Cowley.

Looking back, it has happened before. Sam Brittain was hurt in the playoffs and couldn't play until the 2nd half of the Season. Steve Miller found Jussi Olkinuora late in the summer to back up Adam Murray in the 1st half. Guess what Adam was injured and Jussi become the starter. We also had a back up, practice, 3rd goalie, Josh the DJ(I think)

So similar to what FS23 said about the Sioux/Hawks/UND. 2 of our top 3 were injured in the first part of the season. Unlike "those guys" we didn't win the natty that year.

Thanks Ralph, should be a nice player for DU. He is on the USNDTP U-17 team this year and is from Arizona like Zak Larazza and Auston Matthews. He is a forward that is 16 and already 6'0" and 170 pounds. He should be coming to DU in the Fall of 2018 and is eligible for the June 2018 draft. He is playing with DU D-man recruit Will MacKinnon on the U-17 team..
