Don't expect to see #2 vs #3 in the rankings for the DU-UND games. Hope Pios sweep of Bye keeps us in the 2nd spot for now.

DU wannabe, Northeastern ex, gopher transfer Mike Szmatula stuck the dagger in fka Sioux Saturday. Gophers PP clipped the Hawks wings both nights. Monty, can we switch our PP system to whatever the gophs did?

Oct. 30, 2010, DU defeated the Fighting Sioux 3-0. Sam Brittain, Drew Shore, Beau Bennett, Maiani, Zucker, Donovan, Makowski. Ostrow Brothers were part of a great win following an unforgettable loss.
The night before. Brad Malone hit Jesse Martin and Jesse's season was over. His life was almost over. Three fractures of the C-2 vertebrae that often cause death or paralysis. But Jesse persevered and was back on campus that same quarter--walking.. He graduated and walked across the stage to accept his diploma.

Tonight was a big win for the Pios as was the Oct. 30, 2010 shutout, but the biggest winner--Jesse Martin's amazing recovery.

DU was the better team this weekend. And I think most Hawk fans will acknowledge that UND did not play below their ability. DU is just better right now. A great weekend of hockey to watch. What college hockey is meant to be like, IMO, except the wrong team won.

I fully agree du is the better team right now... I don't think anyone can argue otherwise but I don't agree that UND played at the top of it's ability.

What I'm saying is that home fans often say they lost because they didn't play as well as they usually do. We did. Maybe not top game, but our usual level of play. DU is just better.

Players of the week
Offensive player of the week: Dylan Gambrell, Denver. A five-point weekend from Gambrell propelled Denver to victories over Air Force and Wisconsin.
Three of those points were collected during DU power plays.

Defensive player of the week: Will Butcher, Denver. The senior defenseman recorded four points against AFA and UW, including one goal early in Denver’s 6-5 home victory Saturday against the Badgers.
Denver’s captain finished the weekend with 12 shots on goal and three blocked shots at the Pioneers’ end of the ice.

Rookie of the week: Henrik Borgström, Denver. A five-point weekend from the Finnish forward gave DU a boost.
Borgström finished the weekend with two goals, both of those scored in the second period of the Pioneers’ victory Saturday against UW.

Anyone know why there is no TV this weekend? It seems like it has been a long time since neither game is on TV for this series. At least one is usually on.
