All-Americans Watch 2012

Re: All-Americans Watch 2012

Something that I haven't seen mentioned; you need to weight the selections based on their year in school. A senior will get the nod over a freshman nearly every time unless the Frosh is head and shoulders above the senior. Next will be the Junior, then the Soph....and so it goes.

Re: All-Americans Watch 2012

Prez. I still think you have Lee too far down, Willer at least a 3rd team.

As I've said before I think Martin Lee is the best player I've seen this year, but you have to remember that these are Prez's predictions, not necessarily his teams if he were in charge of picking them. And, I have to admit, it will be hard for Lee to get 1st team votes with his lower point totals. That's just the way it usually goes.

Yes. ECAC East nominations were sent out today and they are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday. I would assume the lists will be compiled and sent out by Monday or Tuesday of the following week.

So far this year I would say Plattsburgh, Oswego, Norwich, and either Elmira or Manhattanvile would be considered the top teams in the east, however, your list only included 5 players from these teams. I think it is harder to get the big stats when you teams like Plattsburgh, Norwich, Castleton or Elmira whom are good on D. Some of the guys on your list would not put up as big numbers in other leagues.

Re: All-Americans Watch 2012

I can't see any ECAC West team getting a top seed in the East or a second seed either!!! That will either go to Norwich or Oswego. I haven't read all the posts here but were is Hare in the goalie conversation. Beckwith a 1st team all american goes down and Hare steps in and has been very consistant and solid this year. I would put Josepher up there for defensemen also.

Re: All-Americans Watch 2012

Looking at the current numbers (without actually having seen a game) I have to think that Andrew Hare has to be above Cinotti and possibly Cadieux. I think I would still give the first teem nod to LaRose, but the second and third team could be a toss up between Hare and Cadieux. With the head to head win last night, maybe Hare has a slight edge. I think Hare gets the night off tonight and possibly Cadieux too. Thoughts?

Re: All-Americans Watch 2012

Hare is definitely an All-American and his performance last night solidified that. I believe that with his latest surge here, that Whitelaw should be a second team All-American. I think that the voters have to seriously consider Luke Moodie and putting Jesse McConney on the third team.

3 nominees from the MCHA, from what I have seen:

Chris Stansik, D, Sr, Adrian
Zach Graham, F, Jr, Adrian
Jordan Keizer, F, Jr, MSOE

Re: All-Americans Watch 2012

Since he won the SUNYAC scoring title, IMHO Sy Nutkevitch from Potsdam has to get some very strong consideration.

Considering he factored into the scoring of 48 percent of Potsdam's goals this season I would have to agree. He was also a point a game player against the big two in the SUNYAC with four points against Oswego and Plattsburgh. Unfortunately he might get overlooked because Potsdam hasn't made a lot of noise this season.

I think Connor Toomey belongs on this list. He's gone coast to coast for MSOE and leads in all statistical categories with the exception of save percentage.

Re: All-Americans Watch 2012

Any shot for a guy like Mike Owens outta Umass-Dartmouth? Most likely the MASCAC player of the year and nationally sits 13th in points and tied for 4th in goals. Just wonder if a kid like Owens would get any consideration despite playing in a down conference like the MASCAC.

And you can pretty much put Lazorko, Ketts, and Barlock on the 1st team plaque right now. Other 3 spots are tight, but those 3 jump out at you.
