Alaska Nanooks 2013-14 Season Thread - On the Road to Perdition...

Re: Alaska Nanooks 2013-14 Season Thread - On the Road to Perdition...

So apparently if you're watching America One and the game is over, but you're a few minutes behind, it just shuts your stream down. You'd think that if they allow you to be viewing it delayed, they'd actually let you finish, but I guess not :p

Anyway, of the 57:30 that I got to see, this was a really good game tonight. Fast paced, high energy level pretty much from start to finish, and they never seemed to really let up, which is good to see.

Also, I was impressed with Garrick Perry's penalty killing early on. Kinda reminded me of Ron Meyers at times.

Great win, and congrats to Cahill on the shutout. Bring it again tonight, boys.

Just clarifying my friend, just clarifying. :D

Well if you break it out, SPU is in first because they beat us and we are second because we beat Western WA (again). But a three way tie for first is better than fourth place, my friend. ;)

As for hockey, no excuses from me. There hasn't been a consistent weekend-long effort since, ironically, we played Bemidji in their barn six weeks ago. Last night was a bad loss, period.

I could see the UAF men's BB program was on the rise ... UAA is having some issues this year ... but the season isn't over yet.

As for hockey, UAA is 5 points ahead of UA_, and you have Huntsville this weekend while UAA has a bye. If _airbanks sweeps they'll be right back in it.

I'm pretty sure the last team who figured they would sweep Huntsville wound up with three points instead of four. ;)

According to this site (http://www.playoffstatus.com/wchahockey/wchasosag.html), the three teams tied for seventh have played the three toughest schedules in the conference. We should drop down in the strength of schedule category after next weekend, but that's pointless without four points. Based on what little I've seen of UAH this year, they stink but they stink with dignity and won't roll over for anyone. We have enough offensive firepower that there shouldn't be much of a problem, but UAA was probably singing that same tune a couple weeks ago.

As for men's thump-thump, it feels legitimately good to have a basketball team that wouldn't stand a strong chance of losing to a JV high school squad (thanks a lot, Clem Johnson). What's even better is that Durham is doing it the right way with the right players, as opposed to recruiting a bunch of thugs a la Ostanik. Our Thursday game against St. Martin's was on Root Sports and we beat the **** out of them on their floor, in HD no less. All it took to fix that basketball dumpster fire was a guy from Montana and two Serbian dudes. Go figure.

I laughed at that, but mainly because it's true, especially the dignity part.

One of my favorite things about my alma mater is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. And this video epitomizes that ideology (and it's for a good cause).

Much better than the bear blowing up the earth. No, really, that was pretty cool. Not exactly how they teach you in CPR class, but we get the idea. :)

We apparently have a new intro video with no Hockey Bear. I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been a revolt.

Per the News Miner, the Chargers are in Fairbanks but their gear isn't.

Shades of UNO playing in Ice Dogs sweaters a few years ago...
