Alaska Goal Rush: 10/16-17 UA_, UAA, RPI, RMU

Re: Alaska Goal Rush: 10/16-17 UA_, UAA, RPI, RMU

Good game tonight. 4-2 UA. With 49 sog, we could have easily had a few more goals, but the RMU goalie stood on his head. Hats off to that guy! Dion was well...............Dion. Think he had only a point, but man was he something tonight. The kid is skilled, a senior at 19. Just skilled. Overall good game. Gangchorage played well tonight also winning 3-0. Hats off to them as well. The game was much closer than the score. Gangchorage finally got some goal tending. I will say I was a little disappointed with the attendance. Tickets were not included in the season ticket holder package. Maybe this is the reason attendance was not what I expected. It is tough enough on people to pay a few hundred hard earned dollars for season tickets, let alone another $35 + for the tourney. Overall things look good for us. I hope we can put together another performance like this against RPI tomorrow night! It would be nice to win the tourney! GO NOOKS!

Re: Alaska Goal Rush: 10/16-17 UA_, UAA, RPI, RMU

I'm sorry, but I gotta vent one last time about the attendance. What a joke. What happened to the CC crowd? That place used to be packed in the past, and it was empty tonight. Hockey town? Pathetic showing to say the least. I’m not sure what the deal is, and maybe it has to do what I alluded to in my last thread, but come on. This is (so far) one of the better Nooks team that I have seen in awhile. That barn should be packed. I just don’t get it. W e had a better crowd for the exhibition game against SAIT. Is there something else going on in town that I am not aware of? The CC used to be loud, and packed. Now it’s quiet and sparse. Also I know some of you complained a few years ago about our announcer (Jason Gazewood), but I wish he was back. This new guy is a freaking joke. He has notta, and I mean notta clue what the hell is happening, or who the hell is playing. I’m not convinced he knows what is going on. We need someone new in there fast, because he is killing me. Same goes for the DJ or song person. I mean we have only been playing the same goal horn and songs for the past few years. You would think they would have that figured out by now. Seriously pathetic.

Re: Alaska Goal Rush: 10/16-17 UA_, UAA, RPI, RMU

I'm coming up but I'm not sure I count, being I'm not a UAA troll. Last time up I met "wondering" by mistake, her son was sitting with my grandson and I think his family was looking for him. Here's to hoping we get the second part of the Alaska Triple Crown, win the Kendall the Brice and the Governor's Cup. One down two to go.

Sorry to miss you this time, Birdman. I'm on the east coast for my brother's wedding. (Obviously he's not a hockey fan, or he would have picked a better date!) We stopped in Anchorage to see Friday's Kendall games, and I inadvertently sat in a season-tickets section. The Seawolves fans were actually friendly, even though I was wearing my Nanooks jersey!

Speaking of which, after checking on the USCHO fan forum to make sure it was acceptable, I wore my Nanooks jersey to the Caps-Devils game. I got a thumbs-up from a couple guys, but otherwise just attracted a lot of second looks.

RMS, I wish I were at this weekend's games. Maybe the three-day weekend combined with beautiful weather (and hunting season??) has prompted a lot of people to head out of town.

I too miss gazewood. I just wished he didn't do the mumbly-thing with opposing team information - i could never understand what was said when he did that. He certainly had good ability to project and that is missing. He's a busy guy though.

Attendance was poor. I'm not sure why. Someone else said that season ticket holders didn't get tix to these games as part of their packages, that might be some of it.... RPI+robert morris won't draw in fans like michigan does, as well.

Official attendance for the second game was 2385. That's about half full, right? Don't ever, ever rag on UAA fans about their attendance. UAA actually had good attendance for their tourney. If I remember right, last year the CC was not as full as usual either. At least you don't have a "pro" team to compete with.

UAA offers their tourney tickets with the season ticket packages, maybe _airbanks should do the same?

Should be some interesting games tonight, UAA is only ahead in goal differential by one.

Re: Alaska Goal Rush: 10/16-17 UA_, UAA, RPI, RMU

yeah, ok time to chime in my two cents about fairbanks. first of all, why is beer not served until 6 o clock? i mean come one, don't u people know we anchorageites need our booze. seriously at the kendall i believe it was served during the first games? two, any body know why students don't get companion tickets here in fairbanks, u would get so many more people here if students got companion tickets.

Re: Alaska Goal Rush: 10/16-17 UA_, UAA, RPI, RMU

You take the Southern edge of Lake Ontario, and draw a line east. THAT is where Upstate NY starts.

And birdman, Plattsburgh is most definitely upstate. Only about 4-7 more exits on the northway before Canada (depending on which Plattsburgh exit :P )

In any case, I am looking forward to listening to these games.

Wrong. Plattsburg and Watertown are considered Northern N.Y. (or was I napping while they became part of Quebec ??):D

of course we're friendly to fellow alaskans, its the Gopher & Sioux fans we tend to **** off.

Seems kinda foolish to not offer tickets in the season ticket package to me. I mean you want your faithful fans to be there for every game right?

Re: Alaska Goal Rush: 10/16-17 UA_, UAA, RPI, RMU

Big kudos to Robert Morris; they are a much better team than I credited them for.

It's so much easier to win when you have two 2 man advantages, and play half the game with an extra skater. I'm not saying UAA didn't take some stupid penalties, they did. But that 5 minute on Lafranchise was a terrible call. It was in open ice, not into the boards, and should have been a 2 minute penalty not 5.

Needless to say, UAA did not look very good, and if they play like that next weekend they are gonna get killed and so is the fan base.

Stupid penalties are still penalties, and UAA got beat fair and square. Give RMU credit where it's due for coming up here and not backing down.

He is a busy guy, and a good guy. The mumbly-thing wasn't great, but the rest was. It is stupid the season tix holders didn't get that in their package. A couple would have to shell out another $70 on top of the hundreds they paid for their season tix. I don't care who we play, that place used to be packed always. Maybe we are still recovering from the bad couple years. I hope it gets better. We'll see.

Please............... we've only had the problem the last year and the games this year. You guys have had an attendance problem for over ten years.

Good try, but UA_ has had attendance issues for longer than that. Don't forget, I get to see their games on cable and I read the papers. And UAA has not had attendance issues dating back ten years.
