Alaska Anchorage at Maine Oct. 24 and 25: Because Airline Miles are a thing

Re: Alaska Anchorage at Maine Oct. 24 and 25: Because Airline Miles are a thing

Saw pics of the team at Fenway Park today, and practicing at Agganis Arena. Not sure why they didn't fly to Maine. Smart move coming in early as the weather here is awful right now.
Curious where you saw the Pics??????????????

Flying into Bangor would be much more expensive but staying in the Boston area would eat up those savings quickly.

All teams would like to find out what the prices in Boston are like next April.
We're just getting the sightseeing out of the way now.
Trying to put a smiley emoticon here!

Whether it's now or April, the prices in Boston are high. If you want anything under $100 a night, better go 10 miles outside the city!

Let's hope we broke last seasons bad habit of not a lot of success on the road.
Looking for a win to start this year's travel.
It's a great day to be a Seawolf!

Anyone know if the game is showing on Splash Zone?

Live stream from maine ...pony up for 8 bucks or go to crossbar at 3pm.

write up from Bangor Daily news
Game notes: The Black Bears will be eager to avenge a season-opening 3-1 loss to the Seawolves in the Kendall Hockey Classic in Anchorage, Alaska. UAA held Maine to just 19 shots on goal including five in the third period. All-Americans Shore and Hutton have just one goal and no assists between them so coach Red Gendron will be looking for them to snap out of their slumps. Even though the Black Bears have managed to score just five goals, Gendron is also searching for a better defensive performance from his team and fewer turnovers. UAA has an exceptional top line comprised of its top three returning scorers: Allen, Tatchell and Cameron. The Seawolves are coming off a 3-3 overtime tie with Penn State and a 4-1 victory over Air Force. Maine got swept at home by No. 2 Union College and has now lost its last four regular season games at the Alfond Arena dating back to last season. Alfond Arena is 15 feet narrower than Sullivan Arena where UAA plays. Maine has scored two goals or less in its last nine games.

2 evenly matched teams. Both played hard, good goaltending from both. Maine got a bounce late. Couple UAA players felt the freight train that is Malcolm Hayes. Maine needs to get Hutton and Shore going. Rutt stupid penalty almost cost Maine at the end. Think UAA coach blew it when he didn't get goalie off ice sooner at end of game. Good win for Maine. I wonder if its Romeo tomorrow?

Hoping that Duwe is okay for tomorrow night, looked to me like it could be a concussion. Hope I'm wrong. Maine definitely played a stronger game than when they were in Anchorage, UAA looked off to me. Passes weren't very sharp. I expect more jump in their skates tomorrow night.

Mostly agree with you Suze. However"Passes weren't very sharp" is putting it pretty mild. We tossed it back to them time and again. 1st period they had us back on our heels. 2nd we looked OK. 3rd it was back and forth.
3rd line Azurdia centering Kozun & Hubbs looked like our best bet. They just seem to click. At this point Mantha looks like our guy. 1st goal was goalie interference and the 2nd we let them get on top of him. Inexcusable!
Conti or Willy needs to put some hurt on Hayes. Let him know who's who.
Go get em tomorrow guys!

Sorry, I couldn't take in the game. But, that is interesting. Hopefully it's clean hits. Although I am disappointed in a way. I thought Hayes and Hamilton would be plugged in as at home guys to protect the net front(which we have been sorely laking over the last 10 years).

I don't understand it too well with playing Hayes at forward. And if you looked at the best pairing last season it was Rutt/Riley. Yet I haven't seen those two playing together too much. Despite the fact we have rookies in net.

Seems like a bit of lay low in the weeds game to me. Not sure why.

I agree that their first goal should have been waived off. I was watching the Maine feed as the radio broadcast with Kurt was not on yet, and even their announcer said that Mantha was pushed and then knocked down. Not sure how they allowed that goal to stand. Oh well, it is what it is.

BTW, Scotty Allen was saying that he did take in a Bruins game, that must have been a great experience for them. I bet this is a good bonding experience for the team, win or lose.

I think Hamilton is clearing the net front, 2 crosschecking penalties. Hayes looks much better at forward than he did at D.

Well... we didn't lose.

Because of Mantha. That is not a game UAA deserved to win. Or tie for that matter. How many penalties did the guys take anyway? I think coach may have to start benching guys to get his point across - STAY OUT OF THE BOX.
