For choosing players late, they're getting respectable (captains) players, which I really like. I hope they can get a couple of offensive players now that they got two D men.

But I totally agree on the cleaning of the rink. I mentioned this to the AD. The players are out on the ice busting their ***. They don't deserve playing in a dirty rink and the school doesn't deserve it. I have no clue who runs the place. The pizza use to be good, but I have not got food there in two years. I just realized Al's Diner in Chicopee is open before games, so I've been going there the last few times. Nothing special, but I like diners.

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 52 acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Looking forward to the start of the season. I will not be at the first game @ Penn State(They must have sold out months ago) But I am planning to attend the game in Wilkes Barre.

Interesting article about AIC on USCHO today. Notes that we need Meisner to play well to make any move up in the pecking order. It also mentioned that if anything happens to him, we have two inexperienced back ups. That was a problem last year as Meisner looked worn out at times. Hopefully, better management of the goalie rotation this year to build more experience with the back ups and take some of the pressure off Meisner.

Any clue as to potential lines for the upcoming visit to Penn State? Not sure how much practice time the boys will have under their belts going into the weekend but I'd bet it is a lot less than Penn.

PS I'm still looking for a game used jersey with the yellow jacket on the front... Anyone have a source or know who I should contact. I've sent quite a few emails to the athletics department and they seem to go into a black hole.

Johnsons- Good luck on the jersey. AIC's program is run on a budget befitting a second tier high school program. Unlike a lot of programs that sell the jerseys after each season to fans and parents (a legit fundraiser), I think AIC wears the jerseys year in year out. Too bad since it is the school's only D-1 program. The school just doesn't seem too concerned about supporting or promoting the program.

Here we go again same defense and same no pass offense. Defense this weekend could not make a break mout pass not one defensemen lifts his head to even look. I am sure the coach is happy with there performance because they beat a club team with freshmen. Its amazing this coach is still coaching hes a LOSER time to move on.

I'm in the same boat as Jj, I'm coming to Springfield to visit my sister and talked her and my brother in law into going to a game. So any advice? do I need tickets in advance etc.?

One of the greatest Yellow Jackets of all time lost his battle last night. God Bless Chris Serino. Helped more local kids in Mass then anyone I know.

Chris Serino was a three sport athlete for AIC from 1968-71, lettering in baseball, football and men’s ice hockey. While he started in football as a quarterback and defensive back and in hockey as a wing, Serino earned his highest acclaim on the diamond. As a senior in 1971, he posted a batting average of .472, tops in the College Division that season and still the school record for single season batting average. That mark also made him the first batter in school history to reach the vaunted .400 mark. He earned Topps All-America honors and was named the recipient of the President's Cup in 1971, awarded to the outstanding senior athlete at AIC.

After graduation Serino was named the head hockey coach at Saugus (Mass.) High School, a post he held for 12 seasons. From there he went on to Northfield Mount Hermon School for six years, earning New England Prep Coach of the Year accolades. Serino then served a nine-year stint (1989-98) as associate head hockey coach and head baseball coach at the University of New Hampshire, helping guide the Wildcats to six NCAA tournament appearances, including a Frozen Four appearance in 1997 when the team won a school-record 26 games.

He then went on to become head hockey coach at Merrimack College from 1999-2005 and served as that school's athletic director for three years. He is now the Director of Athletics at Malden Catholic High School.

He was a great coach and a great man. Really cared about his players and the game. A great mentor.

I highly doubt anyone will need advance tickets. I would love to be wrong, but... The stands still need to be power washed. It's an absolute embarrassment.

Well, Holy Cross had a slight advantage in the first period tonight, AIC took the second, but the third truly belonged to Holy Cross. They were ready to play and really took advantage of AIC who did not look ready to start the period.

the team did have trouble getting the puck out of the D zone at times. Hopefully the 2nd period is promising, but we really need players(or even singular) in front of the net when someone shoots on net to get a rebound. they still need to gel on offense. Pleskach has brought some offense and i'm incredibly impressed with Puskar this year.
I like how coach is letting Ceccacci jump in at the point when it is safe and someone recognizes it(seems to be Puskar a lot) to cover for him. I always liked when players like Little did this in the past. I think it gives an added boost to the offense, keeps the offensive plays alive, and gives another wrinkle for the defense to worry about.

The rink has high potential but it is currently an embarrassment to AIC and Atlantic hockey. Gum stuck on seats everywhere, spill stains all over the place and trash on the walkways. AIC needs to get on the rink management to fix this situation. Also, the school does not support this program. No fans from the student body except girlfriends of the players. The Western New England hockey team was in the stands (guess they have friends on AIC) or the place would have been empty. It would be nice to see the administration run some promotions to get the student base out. The lack of student fans is an embarrassment, especially for a home opener.

Thought the team looked more organized and appeared to be (finally) playing systems. That being said, two breakaway goals, albeit nice ones, is not what you want to depend on for offense. Not a lot of second chances and most of the shots were from low probability areas. Hung in there for two periods, but this team can not afford to give up soft goals and come back. Stronger D, more consistent goaltending, and more physical play are necessary. It was obvious we were bigger and slower. Not using the size puts us at a huge disadvantage.

Will be tough to hang with Union, one of the strongest programs in the country. No room for errors and soft goals against them or it will be very ugly.
