AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Two quick goals to start the 3rd period by Mike Penny helps AIC win 3-2!!!!

now 3 points ahead of Army and either 5 or 7 points ahead of Sacred Heart!

Slow start but good finish. Meisner played a solid game. Wont finish in the basement this year so thats a plus! Anything can happen once the playoffs start.

Graet win hopefully building confidence for the playoffs solid lineup, biggest concern is still getting out of our zone and we seem to loose our legs by the end of the third. The fourth line got the team going and scored the first goal by Lietner, that line is playing well and needs to play more, that will conserve legs and keep guys fresh for the finish.

Hoping the team comes out strong this weekend! Forget what we need to finish 10th, but go into the playoffs on a roll!

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Good game. The only time UConn looked good in the first two periods was when they were down a goal. Then they seemed to tilt the ice, and would shortly score a goal. After the second goal, AIC fought back to neutralize what could have been a UCONN run.

AIC looked tired and the ice looked a little choppy in the 3rd period, but after falling down a goal, they fought back with Mesiner pulled. After tieing the game, Meisner made a huge save to keep the game tied.

UCONN seems to bring out the best in AIC this year. Solid passing and an overall really good game. The penalty kill was solid for the most part. They only collapsed poorly on the 2nd UConn goal.

Senior night for AIC and only 211 in the house?????????????

That is shameful.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

The women's basketball was home for a playoffs game, so a lot of the students were probably there.

But excuses behind, some things have to happen before next year.

The rink management needs to clean the stands in the rink. They're an absolute embarrassment, especially to the fans from the opposing team. The rink is setting a bad image for the school.
The local paper has to cover the team, even if it is a quick blurb. Here in the Capital District(New York), Union College went from those small blurbs to getting prime time coverage in the Albany paper. There was not even a mention of the game in the list of college games for the night. Someone in the athletic department needs to harass The Republican until they just give in. The women's basketball got a nice article Friday night, but NO mention of hockey at all.
Finally, a bus from the college to the rink every home game.

I think UConn wanted the game more. They came out physical and took control, after letting up an early goal which may have been redirected, AIC settled down a bit and didn't allow many quality shots. They started to gain control of the ice and tied it on a power play.
UConn had more control of the ice in the 2nd period. They had three really good chances mid way through the period, and just missed the net twice early on. We were also fortunate from an early whistle. AIC stayed steady and was able to tie the game up on another power play.
UConn put their chances in the net in the 3rd, unfortunately. The first shot was a screen, and on the second of the period, it looked like AIC's defense just collapsed and was not able to stop the puck from going in. Hopefully they learn from that 4th goal, because you can't collapse like that. AIC got within 1 on the power play, but after a scrum in front, and Mesiner down, the puck went out to the blue line, and it was an easy shot into a mostly open net.

The line of Penny, Arcibal and Pleskach really had some beautiful passing in the first two periods. It's going to be a bummer next year not to have this line.
You can see that Cassidy and Popak have some really good potential once they bring their game to the next level, but they do need to work on improving their defense at the same time.

Off to Robert Morris next weekend. Seeing that I missed four games this season, I think the team needs to play at least four games to make up for it!

no its another case of coaches who have no idea how to coach a hockey team the team came to play but due to incompatent bench management he tiered the lines out was playing with 2 and a half lines cant win hockey games that way those coaches are losers the program is a joke

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

I missed Sunday's game. It was a painful call, but work calls sometimes =[ Next year I need to plan better for playoffs week.

They played 36 minutes of fantastic hockey on Friday. They started sitting back playing prevent defense for the rest of the game, and Robert Morris took advantage. As my brother was a NY Jets fan in the 1980s, I remember how well prevent defense worked for them in the 1980s.

Friday was about 55 minutes of excellent hockey. There were a couple minutes in the first period that were rough, but they dug in and held on and came back with a vengeance! The last two minutes were not the best, but with a two goal lead, I guess sometime you have to play prevent D.

They were getting the puck down low and overpowering the Robert Morris D at times, getting to the loose pucks and putting them in the net. They also took advantage of Robert Morris's poor goaltending with some shots, but others were either simply quality shots or hard work that paid off with players that knew hot to get to the right place on the ice.

I really hope they learn a lot from this game, and go into next year with added confidence and understanding of what it takes to win, and most importantly, that they do have everything they need TO win.

Well, in a few weeks, the plants will be budding, my vineyard will need tending, and I can think of next season!

We finally have our first recruit for next year and it looks like it was worth the wait. Solid D man from a good program.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Completely agree. Live in W. Springfield and go to the A.I.C. games when UMASS is not playing. Never a good crowd there. A side from their win-loss record I think the rink has a lot to do with it. Usually you feel like your watching a game out side at the North Pole. It has no atmosphere. It is not kept clean as it should be, and the bath rooms leave a lot to be desired. It does have to be embarrassing to have to call this your home rink. Probably why we never see any team other than from Atlantic Hockey come here to play..........Though I've heard a rumor that in 2012-2013 supposedly Clarkson may be coming here to play two. That would be pretty cool, and if there was any advertising at all just maybe they might get a decent crowd there for a change. At least this season they did get out of the cellar. We went to the game they played at Brown Univ. where they won 3-0, and the RPI game, and they played quite well. A couple of more talented players and they could be pretty competitive in the ATL.
