AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Dear AIC,

Your next goal is to learn to finish games. You had Michigan Tech down 3-0. Look what they have done recently. You came back from a two goal deficit to Clarkson. You had Sacred Heart down 6-1 and let them score 3 goals on a very sloppy third period. You have proven you can play. Now find the pride to finish these games.

Hear!! Hear!! As a fan of the former YellowJacket travel partner (ECAC-East days) let me say that a strong AIC is in everyone's best interests.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Despite giving up so many shots to Union, not many were real dangerous in the beginning. I thought AIC played a solid game. They did what they had to do to stay close. Mental lapses and two quick goals puts it out of reach. AIC just hasn't learned how to play 60 minutes and/or they don't believe they can win these games. Hope the coaches kick their *****es. Good effort but unless the expectations are higher AIC will continue to dwell in the basement of college hockey. RMU is a very good team so the boys better get their heads on straight, believe in the team and go at it for a full 60.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Nice win tonight! 2-0 shutout. They got a goal when Rob Blanchett snuck down low and scored a nice goal in the top corner. AIC really frustrated R.M. for a good deal of the game, even though they had their chances. AIC did panic a couple of times at the end, and it nearly came back to bite them. Nice to get a win and now to look forward to next week! Although they did panic at times, they also controlled the play quite a bit, especially late, which was really nice to see.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

A road split at RMU for the weekend is solid. Shows the potential of the team. Although we give up a lot of shots, they've done a pretty good job of keeping most of the shots to low percentage angles/distances. Still, I'd rather see less reliance on goaltending.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

I hear ya Woodstick. They have moments where they looks like they are about to collapse, but fortunately this team has been able to turn the tide on the ice during games. It was fantastic to see them control the puck in the Robert Morris zne late in the third period. but it was scary to see Robert Morris buzz around and control the puck in AIC's zone before and after, during the 3rd period.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Saturday's 2-2 tie to UConn was a very very solid game for AIC. They actually controlled play for a vast majority of the game. If UConn was not rock solid on defense, blocking passing lanes and being where they needed to be, the game might have been 6-2. UConn still had their chances. with perfect shots of their own, they could have scored 4 goals. They scored on a rebound with a free skater and a perfect backhand.

The only thing I could say AIC needs to work on is timing of having the player go to the front of the net and the passes thrown in front of the net.

Other than that, it was hopefully a sign or really good things to come. They were getting in the passing lanes, and had UConn on their toes the entire game. They should have scored 2 minutes into the game. An AIC player got the puck on his stick with a third of an empty net with the goalie down. Meisner was not challenged much in the first, as UConn's goalie was called on to make more saves.

I think a lot of people would have been pleasantly surprised by how well AIC played tonight.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Congrats to the boys for their big road win over Brown. This should be a great confidence builder for the team and Meisner picks up a well earned shut out. On top of that Sacred Heart upsets Yale with a 7 - 6 win. Wow!

I didn't think SHU would get a win any time soon given their record and score lines... never mind Yale.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

AIC is definitely looking up lately. After the Tech series, I predicted they would not finish last in the AHA this year. I still stand by that statement.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Big six games. (Though every game is big)
Two vs Canisius, followed by Air Force. all four games at home, and then two at RIT.

I really like how coach has made 6 respectable lines

BTW - for Brown's game, the entire team did a great job of playing team defense. The offensive players really stepped up!

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

What the hell happened last night. Positive that they scored 3 against air force. But, what was up with the goalies. Went through all three of them.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Meisner suffered an injury 10 minutes into the 3rd period. Long went in and didn't allow any in the net.

Meisner went down after making a few crucial saves and bent back. Once everyone was away he threw off his mitt and was in visible pain.

No idea who's going to start in net tonight, maybe Long or Kerpan. Kerpan was good last year when he was the starter when Meisner was out with an
undisclosed injuyr.

God bless AIC fans. I never saw this thread before. Good luck and I wish you success.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Last night was not totally the goalies. The goalies were hot and cold. (Well first two periods, being down 6-2 after two, with a headache, called for an early exit) Air force was simply a class ahead of AIC at times. It started right from the drop of the puck. At times Air Force were cycling for maybe 1-2 minutes a stretch. They were also getting players wide open in front of the net. I think maybe 5-6 times. AIC did stop all the PP chances for Air Force, but the pipe did help out once.
Their offense was better than they were against Canisius, but other than that, it was a very rough night.

Hopefully it was just a off night. Only the second dud game for the team IMO.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Two extra tidbits

Chandler Long is related to the Long who played at Colgate.

I think the trainer told me last year that Meisner had the flu last year when he was out, or something to that extent.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Watching the game last night just looked like AIC was getting disorganized. Systems either weren't working or being executed. AIC didn't have enough speed to stay with them. Air Force has a solid and well coached team and looks like they will stay at the head of the pack in Atlantic. Something for AIC to learn from and strive for.

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

Doesn't get any easier this weekend. Looking for the boys to rally and end the first half on a high note. Need coaches to do a great job on match ups, stronger D and goaltending and more scoring! Teamwork, teamwork, teamwork!!!

Re: AIC Represent!! 2010-20?? Thread

The good news is that both games are on television in the Albany, NY area via Time Warner, so I'll be at home watching both games.
