Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

I'm not sure what to make of Morrisette quite yet. He did struggle a bit in limited time this year. As far as I know, he's not injured. And, quite frankly, with the exception of the Manhattanville debacle on New Years Eve, they really didn't need to go and get Fogal from between the pipes, either.

There's plenty of playing time to be had now, though. We'll see this fall.

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

I should have looked at Adrian's team statistics before that last post.

I didn't realize Cross had played as much as he did this season, and thought Morrisette had played more. Fogarty's decision to only dress the two goaltenders he did now makes a lot more sense to me...

edit: and I suppose the "visiting" team may only be supposed to dress two?

No, you're fine. At the beginning of the season a lot of people thought Morrisette might push Fogal for some serious playing time. Obviously it didn't materialize.

Morissette won't be playing on the varsity team next year. There will be 3 new goalies on the team next year. Fogarty already has them lined up.

It's supposed to be the same for both teams....

And we're not telling who they are. :D

From the Adrian College Athletics website:

Senior goaltender Brad Fogal (Sharon, Ont.) is being featured this week in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd. Fogal is the all-time NCAA Division III leader with 93 wins in net.

Congrats Brad!

In the same issue as Norwich's Sophie Leclerc. :)

Congrats to Fogal on the recognition.
I get SI and in my hard copy, it calls it the "Michigan" Collegiate Hockey Association.
I had to do a double-take.

Nice...

The frozen four program has them playing in the michigan intercollegiate. Someone is misinformed.

Well, the last four years it kinda has been. :p

All joking aside, it doesn't surprise me in the least. It was probably outsourced and put together by people who barely know that the game is played on ice. Sad? Yes. Surprising? Not especially. In a lot of places fact-checking has gone the way of the VCR and record players.

What's funny is that I submitted Sophie Leclerc for Norwich and had all the facts correct about the league's name etc.

I get an email from a fact-checker at SI asking a few questions about stuff and the fact checker said "Norwich plays in the Eastern Coast Athletic Conference"

I replied back saying "Norwich plays in the Eastern College Athletic Conference"

It ends up getting printed as "Eastern College Athletic Association"

Go figure...

It's unfortunate too especially when the mistake was never made in the first on your end, you try and correct a mistake they make in the first place, and then it stills ends up being wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that Norwich and Sophie were able to get a spot in SI, but when you had plans to blow it up and make it in to a memento, you'd like to see it correct, especially when it falls back on you and people thinking you are the one that made the mistake.

To all Adrian fans. To make it to the championship game of a NCAA frozen four in four short year's is a statement in itself. coach Fogarty is to be acknowledged for this accomplishment. He was the mentor that put this program together. That being said, after watching 47 year's of college hockey I have never seen a dirtier hockey team than Adrian College. We all know that hockey is a tough sport. Adrian has very good hockey player's, but they do not have to play hockey the way we witnessed last weekend. For the people that we're in Minneapolis last week it was a disgrace to see an NCAA frozen four div 111 played out like that. St. Norbert, Norwich, Oswego showed respect for the game we all love. Adrian played the way hockey was played 35 year's ago. Goon hockey in the NCAA was suppose to be over with. If Mr Dupree the head ref had done his job Adrian would have filled the penalty box all weekend.
It is understandable that Adrian parent's and fans want to relish in a good year. UNfortunately the team disrespects the game we all love.
Coach Fogarty played his college day's at Colgate. He sure did not get educated to this kind of hockey there.

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

Oswego fan, it is too bad that your team did not win. Adrain played hard, and so did your team. SNC also played very physical and had many hits that could have been deemed dirty.

It seems to me that Eastern hockey is softer than the Western version of the game. Adrian is not the classiest team in the west by any means. Do they talk trash? Sure, but to say they are not respectful to the game is going over the edge.

The west earned the final two spots this year and put on a great show.

Go West hockey,

Congrats Adrian,

Westscout

I would not say they played "dirty", appeared more to be whiners - players skating up to the officials after whistle/calls with their hands in the air, etc.......take the call, whether a good one or not, put your pants back on and play hockey......

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

Well it appears that you know a great deal more about Adrian than I do. I have seen Adrian play three times in the past year. So maybe I can enlighten you..
First of all there is allways hard hits and elbow's here and there. Someone get's boarded, it get nailed in the corner and you come up angry in the heat of the moment. That's hockey, so be it. Where in any sport is it acceptable to spit in your face repeatedly thru the game. This was done to get a reaction from the other team, to lose control. create chaos. Teams like Norberts, Norwhich, Oswego play hard but they don't play stupid. You know NCAA rules about fighting. You get a game misconduct and you are out the next game. They play with discipline. Adrian played both games like goons.
Sticks up the crotch, elbow's in the back of the head, a punch when ever they could.
Saturday nite a SNC player went after an Adrian player near the Adrian bench, he ended up over the Adrian board, while head hanging over and defenseless # 23 for Adrian took his stick from the bench and jammed it on the back of the SNC player. He should have benn thrown out of the game and got a two minute. roughing.
In your judgement hockey is tougher in the west. Actually hockey is tough all over, it apparently it is played dirtier at Adrian.

That was not dirty hockey. Some of the penalties were not what I would call "smart", but dirty? No way.

Where was this graphic for the Plattsburgh fans when they couldn't get over the Norwich Quarterfinal loss. ;)

Plattsburgh-Norwich is of no concern to me.
