Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

Maybe they got confused as to when MLK day was

Nice. :D

It appeared that there was a scheduling conflict for the big ice sheet from Jan. 20 - Jan. 22, due to an adult no check tournament.
The local Wi. senior mens team (Fond du Lac Bears) also played Sat nite (the 21st) on the big sheet.
Apparently, both events had more clout than Marian did in securing ice time.
I know that the Bears draw good size crowds for their games.
Marian crowds are normally in the 100-150 range. Too bad since this is a decent hockey program now.

I did notice a lack of crowd on what video that I managed to get on Sunday.

An adult no-check tournament. Oh boy...

Still, that didn't do either team any favors at all.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

Alumni Weekend (first one) at Arrington Ice Arena tonight. Was it planned to have it vs. MSOE :)

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation "SEASON PREVIEW"

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation "SEASON PREVIEW"

One helluva game tonight at Arrington. Ryan Gieseler pots one with 15.5 left on the clock to tie it at 3, and that's how it ends.

Quite frankly, I thought MSOE outplayed Adrian a bit, and it showed for 59:45. It was tied at 1, 2, and 3.

Typical chippy rivalry-type game, and while I did not care for the officiating tonight, it was certainly not the reason the scoreboard showed what it did tonight.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

MSOE 6
Adrian 1

Well, now. This one is going to be real easy. We got our asses kicked, plain and simple. No sugar-coating, no excuses. We flat-out got beat.

As far as MSOE goes, the Keizer brothers are something else. 2-1-3 for each of them today, if memory serves me correctly. Both of them had outstanding weekends. The big guns showed up for MSOE. That's why the scoreboard said what it did. MSOE deserved this one.

On an unrelated note, I have never seen so many guys get thrown out of face-off circles as I did today. I think we might have had 10 face-offs all night, maybe, where someone didn't get tossed. No exaggeration there. It was ridiculous. I don't think either team was happy with that aspect of the game. I wasn't a fan of that officiating crew, but again, this is unrelated and had minimal-to-zero effect on today's outcome.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

Hi. I have something to say, completely unrelated to tonight's game.

Tomorrow afternoon is the final regular season home game for four seniors: Chris Stansik, Jordan Watts, Blake Barkwell, and Riley Hughes. There will be at least one more home game after tomorrow, but that will be of a different nature, in the form of postseason, single-elimination hockey. Senior night is very special, and is very important to both you and your family. I hope you enjoy everything about it.

Instead, I intend this message for the junior class. I hope the juniors on this team take a good look at Chris, Jordan, Blake and Riley tomorrow and realize that they are next. A year from now, it's going to be them out there skating at home for the final time. I hope this class realizes that even now, time is fleeting, and will be gone before they know it. After tomorrow, the next home game will be one where our four seniors are fighting for their hockey lives, and the junior class is next in line. And that time will come in the blink of an eye. It absolutely blows my mind that this is already the 5th year of this program. I just hope that these upperclassmen realize that there is not much time left.

Dan, Zach, Shawn, Andrew, Kyle, I hope you're watching those four tomorrow. Look around that room, play hard, and play for each other, the rest of the way. If you do that, you'll be fine.

See you tomorrow.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

If MSOE should win the MCHA tournament what is the likelihood that another MCHA team makes the NCAA tournament? St. Thomas looks like a lock from the MIAC. SNC has the inside track in the NCHA and as defending champion still might get a bid even if they don’t win the NCHA tournament. Bottom-line is, how many from the west?

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

The MCHA? None. The top 3 teams in the league did not do nearly enough in their limited non-conference opportunities to warrant a Pool C bid. It's AQ or bust.

If I had to guess, this is a year where we're looking at an 8-3 split. My guess is all Pool C's go east. Pay very careful attention to next week's regional rankings. I don't think too many western fans are going to like what they see when they start looking at the comparisons with the eastern teams.

Being a "defending champion" won't (and shouldn't) get you anywhere.

I can't see the MCHA getting a Pool C bid until they do away with their 20 game conference schedule. I have said it before, but I think the league has outgrown it at this point.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

5 straight MCHA titles for Adrian.

Now the hard part begins.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

No matter how you slice it, a 5-year run of 94-4-2 is pretty **** impressive. Well done.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

Thank you.

But we've got to play a lot better if we want to get through the conference tournament. If we think we can play like we did this season against MSOE and live to tell about it, we're nuts. I mean, off the reservation, looney-tunes crazy.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

Congratulations boys !! You controlled your destiny and delivered.
Without at doubt this MCHA Title was a tougher road and greater accomplishment than any previous.
You didn't dominate indiviually, but collectively you lead or challenged in virtually all the team statistical categories.

Enjoy a brief celebration for your banner that will hang, and use this time off that you have earned to be at your best for the MCHA Tournament. You control your own destiny here too !!

Adrian is impressive for sure. I thought they might have some growing pains early, but they never materialized. I am also impressed with how they always beat the teams that they should. They had some close games in the MCHA this year, but they never really took a night off. Good squad for sure.

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

AC Men may or may not win the MCHA. Victory in the conference does not give me a lot of hope for good things like last season. They did not show me much out of conference this season and this worries me. The MCHA is a very weak conference this season outside MSOE.
Go Bulldogs and give us a 5th straight Harris Cup Title and keep working hard in the NCAA's:)

Re: Adrian 2011-12: The Next Generation

where would that game be if it worked out that way??..Hopefully it does
Adrian. They are the higher seeded team in their respective region which means they get to host in any inter-regional games.

And if Elmira was so fortunate to win that game, they'd be right back on a bus to Oswego on Friday for the NCAA Quarterfinals after getting back to Elmira at what 6 am on Thursday?
