Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

People want babies. Not older, ruined foster kids. C’mon

As mean as it sounds, that's very much the truth of the matter. Also, many of the older children in foster care have special needs due to neglect at younger ages. My 2nd eldest brother and his wife because foster-to-adopt parents, and there is a long, long screening process involved. They wanted an early- to mid-teen child, and the meds these children were taking for their issues would bust the bank for most prospective adoptive parents. As for people who only want to foster, taking in those children with the same issues creates a lot of strain for their family. It's a commitment to deal with those sorts of emotional issues, which can even escalate to involve the police, as in my brother's case when his foster daughter was biting and gouging him. The sheriff's office had him photographed, taken the girl aside to ask questions, inspect her for marks, etc. (she was never touched in retaliation). Foster parenting is not a small or easy thing to do.

To be fair, fundies are the heart of the foster system. Yes, they are creepy AF, but they definitely come through and foster care is a nightmare system to deal with.

The same righteousness that leads these fanatics to cause so much harm can also be harassed, as in this case, to do good. One thing about the Thumpers, they aren't inert. They go up to the plate and they take their hacks. Often it's in the service of their maddeningly malevolent ideology but there are also times they bust their as-ses for a thing which is a demonstrable social good.

From the Star Tribune.

The county (in Minnesota, does not matter which one) tallied 339 births to girls age 15 to 19 last year, down 21% from 2017 and about 65% since 2009, according to health officials, who point to a multimillion-dollar teen pregnancy education program that began in 2006.

See what works to fight against abortions, Republicans? This works. And yet you consistently campaign and fight against such programs over and over and over again.

Those girls are f-cking, enjoying it, and not being punished for it by having a baby. The horror.

Funding for the project attributing largely for these numbers expires in January, per MPR's broadcast last night.

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

I guess it would be bad to float a bill to murder every religious fundamentalist in Ohio, right?

Now, now, I'm not saying pass it. I'm saying, well, let's debate it.

Srsly if after this any woman votes R in OH that's grounds for a 5150.

This is the exact kind of debate this insanity deserves.

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

Why do women still vote for Nazis? It has to be religious indoctrination and self-loathing.

It's the Jesus mental illness.

My god, though, if they keep going so big on misogyny they're gonna make inroads with the Muslims.

Re: Abortion: Why Not Thoughts and Prayers?

What do women see in Republicans? I don't know.

Growing up in the Christoban cult causes all sorts of issues - the self-loathing misogyny of Original Sin, unresolved Madonna/whore complex, etc. Throw a strict/abusive father into that, and yikes.

Lots of reasons for the 53%, unfortunately.

What about all those sperm that get flushed every day? Let’s take this a step farther

Require a death certificate every time a dude shoots his putty at the moon. After all, "Every sperm is sacred..."

That deep Puritan wound.

Be interesting to see what % of dumpettes do not have dumper husbands and/or fathers.
