Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

I apologize for not postng this here earlier although it has been mentioned in several other places. USCHO poster DrDemento and his wife JennyRN, who also posts here on occasion, live in near Brick at the Jersey Coast which was very hard hit by Sandy. He hasn't been heard from here since Monday morning and AFAIK all efforts by posters to reach him have so far been in vain.

In the words of Prof. Farnsworth.... "Good news everyone."

I've posted on this thread that my wife's cycle hasn't been the same since we miscarried a year or so ago. We've been trying so hard to have a baby, but with little success. About a couple of months ago, she went to her doctor, but was told at the very last minute that he canceled. She was beside herself and I told her to try my doctor. She went there and he ran a myriad of bloodwork on her and he found her to be very iron deficient. He put her on Iron pills and Vitamin D3 (which was also low). She hadn't had a natural period since last year. (The others were forced by Provera or stacking birth control for a flush of her system.) However, this weekend she finally cycled on her own. I can't believe her other doctor didn't test for Anemia in the year that she saw him. Anyways, it looks like her and I are on the right path at least and we can get back to trying.
That's awesome!

Just got off the phone with my stepmom; my biological father is getting worse. He's at the point where he's on a liquid diet and he doesn't even have the strength to drink through a straw.

I guess I'm going to Vegas... but it won't be for what I wanted.

The one thing I'm trying to find is if cirrhosis can be fatal. I've done some research and I still can't understand the cause of it, because he's not an alcoholic and at last check, he didn't have hepatitis A or B. I just wonder if it came from the sepsis he had earlier...

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Last night, I spent the night at a friend's apartment with her and her roommate; I was supposed to take care of her while she recovered from foot surgery. However, the surgery's been postponed, because she had a manic episode. Started asking nonsensical questions, throwing a tantrum, refusing to take her medications, repeatedly changing her clothes, etc. He and I were watching this unfold with a "what the hell do we do?" look in our eyes... she had us scared. Finally, her AA sponsor showed up and managed to convince her to go for a car ride to the hospital, where they managed to give her a sedative and managed to get her to cooperate.

Just lift her up in prayer... as I understand it, she's lost friends because of these episodes in the past. People get scared off. However, I know she needs love and support.

Mania sucks. It is only humorous when it is in a cartoon. Prayers for you all!

At least I know she's getting help and the treatment she needs. From what I just heard, she's been transferred to the hospital for further evaluation, and I'll know tomorrow if she can have visitors or not.
