Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

YAY!!!!

And I received an update about my boss: she's very weak right now. She can't sit up on her own, she can't eat... she can barely do anything. Word is they'll be moving her to a Hospice facility very soon.

Hey cancer: * you.
That is so sad Shirtless :(

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

And I just got back from visiting. It's worse than I thought; she appears to have lost hope. Also, I did confirm they will be moving her into Hospice on Tuesday.

:(
:( That is sad for all of you. It is hard when someone is ready to go and just seems to be waiting.

Really worried about the little one. She has been really struggling at spelling. My wife and I do different exercises with her, but she continues to underachieve. I'm going to meet with her teacher to get to the bottom of it. She does really well at home, but can't seem to do good at school. It breaks my heart that she struggles. I know she's one of the smartest people in the room. Her dad does have dyslexia and I still think there may be an underlying issue with some sort of disability. I hope I can at least get on the right path.

Hang in there MBO. You are on the right path because you are looking for one. Remember that in a few years this will be only a small piece of what she remembers. You will remember it much more. (lil barely remembers the angst we went thru and it consumed us! I still get physically ill whan I think of what happened with the crazy teacher, he just knows she sucked.) Just keep pointing out the skills she does have and that other kids struggle with things too, m maybe not what she struggles with but everyone struggles with something. Make up some games that she has to use the skills she struggles with so she can practice and succeed. We had a math game we made up to play at dinner every night.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

I. Hate. Cancer.

I think we've kind of known all along how things were going to end, but we prayed for a miracle anyway. My friend found out yesterday that the chemo isn't working. Sounds like palliative/hospice care now. Her 35th birthday is Sunday. This just sucks. :(

I'll still be praying for a miracle, but we all need prayers for peace and understanding for the road ahead.

Why can't cancer get cancer and leave us all the hell alone? *sigh*

Hey Mountie, I have dyslexia and when I look at it now, I see it as more of a blessing than anything. It has made me work harder and harder. I'm a stronger person mentally because of it.

As far as Rozzi is concerned...

I spoke to his brother over the weekend, he had an infection in the incission however, the doctors were quick to care for it. He is getting stronger everyday which is good. We will know on the 11th if they got it all. He was able to be up to enjoy the Man City win over United...that lifted his spirits immensely as you could imagine. Still a long road back, but he is getting there.

Dubbie, thanks a bunch for you kind words. We are going to work hard and help her. However, I will always love her no matter what.

I still drove my parents nuts though...but I was one big walking learning disability! I have 50% hearing loss in my right ear, ADD, Dyslexia...I'm also color-blind.

Teachers LOVED having me in class!!! :D

The best thing is that I can look back on it and laugh. The older I have gotten the more I can laugh about those things. They were a part of my life that made me stronger and also drove others off the deep end...something I like to do occasionally!

Good news. We tried some of the suggestions the little one's teacher made and she got an 83 on her spelling. Also, she aced her reading comprehension test. She couldn't contain her joy when she came home. I know it's only a small step, but it's positive. We will keep plugging away. I'm so proud of my little girl.

Sorry to hear that shirtless...My thoughts are with ya.

Rozzi update. He is improving, of course we won't know the final result of the surgery until the 11th...fingers crossed.

Wedding planning update...
Everything is going great on that front. I have the goldsmith working up wedding band designs for Aspen and we got some more of our engagement pictures back! Absolutely brilliant pictures. Thank God she is beautiful because I usually break cameras!!!

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

I received word that she died yesterday. :(

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Thoughts for my dad please. He is in the hospital with a blockage in his intestines caused by scar tissue from his surgery in 2007. They are going to see if nature takes its course otherwise he would need surgery.
