Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

What a crappy day. Woke up to hear that my daughter's friend had lost has 7 year battle with cancer (10 year old 5th grader). My daughter is heartbroken. He was a fantastic kid. I took him to his first hockey game last year (as part of my daughters birthday party), and he was so excited he couldn't wait to go back. Sadly, he was too sick to go this past season. Here's a pic of him (in the cap) at the game:

Lets keep Joplin, MO and any other areas that have been hit by the storms and tornados over the last few days (which are still continuing as I type this) in our thoughts.

Stage IV metastatic cancer can suck it.

For those inclined, some prayers for my friend, Leah, would be helpful. Prayers for healing, for miracles, and for peace for her and her husband as they figure out how to deal with this as well as her family and friends.

It indeed sucks. Prayers said.

Well said. Definitely some tough times for people in that area. Hopefully everyone affected can recover soon.

I'll pray for their peace and comfort. It's a gut wrenching process.

Will do.

Prayers of thanksgiving. Have been told (by my mum) for most of my life that I was probably going to end up with something that genetically passes thru the family. Just got some test results back that say I don't have the gene. I am so grateful!! God is good.

Always remember the words of Warren Zevon.
"Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams
Touch me as I fall into view
When the winter comes keep the fires lit
And I will be right next to you
Tonight I could use so good vibes as I am missing me Beloved MK so much

Praying for you. Nothing can be said when you are missing someone. :(

Empty rooms and unspoken conversations aren't fun.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

I have a kid sister...my only sister, forty nine years old now, who has battled cancer since the age of eight. She enjoyed a long period of remission between the age of 15 and 47. At that time cancer returned and is now in her bones / spine. Oncologists expect it'll advance to the brain at some point. Over the years she has had so much chemo and radiation they don't believe she can tolerate any more, as well as numerous surgeries. Not much to be done. She is on a mild form of chemo, taken orally in hopes of giving her a little more time. Two years is her projected maximum...it'll likely be much less. My kid sister has fought the bravest, most courageous fight I can ever imagine anyone fighting with her chin up and a strong, even cheerful attitude. She's big on the power of prayer. I know she really appreciates any prayers on her behalf.

If anyone feels so inclined, I thank you for your prayers...from the bottom of my heart.

Great thread!
Her long suffering has finally ended. My sister succumbed shortly after 1:00AM Friday morning. She fought to live and lasted much longer than the health care professionals predicted. Though she suffered tremendously and in the end was completely ravaged by cancer throughout her body. I was absolutely amazed by her courage throughout her battle. Friday was her 50th birthday. She went peacefully in her own home. Huge thanks to all for your prayers!
