Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Prayers of thanksgiving. This week at worked was awful. Issues with staff, stuff not getting done right that considerably increased my workload and the ability to be timely, lots of patients who were complex and more who were really draining. Was ready to quit and go work at Talbots.

Went out to dinner. First place we went way too long to wait. 2nd place less time but still quite awhile. They told us 20 minutes. Less than 2 minutes later we get seated. Right next to a patient and family who I diagnosed with something that could be life threatening. The wife (who I never met) came up and introduced herself, gave me a huge hug and thanked me profusely for saving her husband's life. Then he came over, looking amazing (the guy should be dead!!) and did the same thing. What I did wasn't rocket science. I just did my job. I was kind of baffled why they think I am the hero. I didn't provide the care that saved him. I just sent him. Mr said it didn't matter. I got the ball rolling. This kind of thing (the pateint doing the thanking thing) can happen at work but not really out of it. Anyway. God is good. Revjuevinated for another week.

It's great to get a win now and then. Good job and keep the faith.

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.

I'm sure she did and she was. ;)

She'd be proud of you. I have similar feelings with my wife and my mom, where at times really feed sad and wish that my mom had been around to spent more time with my wife. My mom only got to meet my wife (at that time wife-to-be), twice briefly before my mom's passing.

I'm sure she was an inspiration to you and your cooking. She's with you right now.
:) Thanks.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Just got the word tonight that my Grandma (my last one and only one I've ever known) passed away. She was 91 years young.

I hope some of those genes land my way! All of her siblings lived into their 90's.

I knew this was coming for sometime. Her heart was just too weak. Glad I made a special trip to see her two weekends ago.

Sorry to hear, Biddco. :(

:(

That sucks. I remember losing the last of mine four years ago. Very weird to think that you are now the second-oldest generation in your family. Doesn't seem real for a while.

This is a request for good thoughts, vibes and prayers for all the people affected by the tornados and flooding.

Losing grandparents is tough. But wait until you lose a parent, sending you partway to being the oldest generation in your family. That's really different.

I lost a grandparent (moms side) and an uncle (dads side) within a month of each other (all while 2 other family members had severe health concerns). I dont think I realized it until recently but it has had a profound effect on me. I find myself drifting in thought more often and thinking about the future and what it will be like when some of these people are gone. Especially my dad. It kind of sucks but a lot of times when my mom calls me and Im not expecting it I get a sinking feeling it will be about him and that it wont be good. It gets rough at times. My thoughts go out to everyone on here who has lost a parent, grandparent or other loved one. I really feel for you.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Good post. These people need our prayers right now.

I live near some areas that are getting hit hard with floods. The town of Cairo, IL which sits right where the Mississippi and Ohio rivers combine is pretty much deserted at the moment. Many of the town's residents are now in shelters hoping that the levees hold and that they have homes to go back to.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Prayers definately go out to the folks dealing with these acts of God. I look at it as God telling us who is in control. We like to think we're in control, but we're not. And God telling us (paraphrasing of course), "Turn to me, find shelter in me, believe in me and Heaven will be bliss." Our time of grace on earth is a short-term thing, embrace God while you can.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

Prayers for all involved in the disasters. The juxtaposition of that and the wedding makes things more poignant.

Re: A Thread for prayers, good vibes and what have you

After an 11 month battle with lung cancer my wife passed away this morning. She fought hard against a really crappy disease.
