9th annual USCHO Fantasy Baseball League

Are we doing divisions or one big one? I'm fine with anything though. If it's divisions don't forget to put me in BTHC.

I prefer 2 divisions, but I'll put it up to a league vote here. One, two or four divisions? Speak now.

Re: 9th annual USCHO Fantasy Baseball League

Don't care how many, but I want WCHA. If no WCHA, do NOT put me in the BTHC. I will not be pleased.

Re: 9th annual USCHO Fantasy Baseball League

I would do two divisions, East vs. West (Central?). Six teams to playoffs, division winners get byes, remaining four by best record.

WCHA here.

Luckily the Morneau's Mashers from 2009 is too late to get in and win the league again...;)

Re: 9th annual USCHO Fantasy Baseball League

I crashed the party here - anyone care to summarize how this works? Is it a manual draft, or could I set my position order and rankings ahead of time if I'm out of town? What does "BN" stand for, in my roster (a bench slot, I guess?) how are the games scored generally - Do I need to have a SP in my lineup who is starting the same day my fantasy team is? How does that work if you can only roster 2 starting pitchers?

I can't find a tutorial on the site.

or should I just quit while I'm not behind?

It's actually easier than you would think.

The draft will be live, meaning if you are logged into the draft room you can manually pick your players. If you are not there it then goes by your draft rankings list. So you can really do it either way. Although live would be preferred so that you can make decisions based on whats happening in the draft.

Scoring is weekly. Each 7 day period you try to get the better total in each of the 14 (maybe its 16 stats now) stat categories against your opponent. So you set your lineup each day (or in advance if you want). Meaning if you know your ace pitcher is starting wednesday, you would put him in the lineup for that day. Then take him out for someone else on the days hes not pitching.

So if your team hits 25 HR that week and your opponents team hits 17, you would win that stat 1-0. If you scored the same amount it would be tied (or halved). The person who wins the most stat categories wins the matchup.

BN does stand for bench, those players stats wouldnt be counted for the days they are on the bench.

thanks for the info. I'd like to be there, but (not to jinx anyone) there's about an even chance I'll be in MSP early next week for a funeral. i'm not sure a fantasy baseball draft via iphone would be quite kosher in that setting.

Re: 9th annual USCHO Fantasy Baseball League

I don't care how many divisions we have or which one I'm in. I'll pre-rank my players and won't be at the live draft.

And I changed my name from Tettletons Shoelaces to Rebound Greinke! so I am more current and hip with the times.

I think Vestibular Neuritis was maybe my favorite team name ever. I thought about re-using it since, well, Ben Sheets had it twice, so can I! Maybe next year.

edit: oh my god!! we have new internet settings at work and now I can't access the page from here. doh!!!! I have to set my lineups.. at home? what will I do in the office???? :p

Re: 9th annual USCHO Fantasy Baseball League

Almost everyone wanted two divisions, so that's what it'll be. Went with Eastern and Western-themed division names. Tried my best to get everyone in the right divisions, but couldn't place all the team names on the Yahoo site with the nicknames on this thread. If you'd like to be moved, let me know. If there's more Western folks than Eastern (and I have a feeling there are), then I'll just change the division names to something more generic and leave them the way they are now.

Reminder: draft is Monday, 10 p.m. EST. Pre-rank players if you can't be there live.
